• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

P3D v4 Trying to make a Hypersonic business jet

As the title states, I am trying to make a hypersonic 7 pax business jet for my own enjoyment.
I am running into a few things though.
Most annoyingly the thing wont go above Mach 4.2 (ish).
The cruising altitude I want is somewhere between 70,000 and 100,000 ft.
I've tried to up the engine's performance in the aircraft.cfg to ridiculous numbers but it wont go past that "barrier"
Another annoying issue the over speed warning always goes off, I changed the max indicated airspeed to 4000, 20000, and more but as soon as I hit 340 kts, it goes off.
I've removed the sound from the panel but still. (default 747 panel from FSX)

I am very inexperienced in regards to .cfg files and .air files so a few tips would be welcome :)
I am currently using a modified TU-144 cfg from another add-on, as this is for personal use.

This is by no means a serious project but figuring all of this out is a great learning experience for me.

Also the plane will have 4 engines, as in my design it will have 2 afterburning turbofans (as seen in the picture) and 2 (simulated) scramjets.
Another design I am working on has to go Mach 10, but I am starting to wonder if there is a hard limit in P3D in regards to this kind of stuff?

Thanks in advance :)

There's a limitation on the maximum speed that the sim will allow. It's been there since at least FSX days and although I can't recall precisely what it is, Mach 4.2 sounds about right. Someone tried to build an X-15 in FSX and ran into exactly that problem.

I just looked up a X-15 for FSX and P3D and it looks like the max limit is Mach 4.65.
Thanks for for the info!

Oh heck! I cut that old X-15 air file into Waverider, pretty sure it had been from FS9 as well and got it up to and past the max altitude of 250k' in MSFS. There was definitely some funkiness in the upper atmosphere, which has changed over the years, but we absolutely blew through Speed Racer's Mach 5, so it seems that old Mach limit is gone now.
