• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

two questions about autogen

1) Is the house side texture on the autogen sheets related to a specific roof on the same texture sheet? (i.e. bldZ2.bmp)

2) Does the population density layer change the height distribution of buildings in the autogen? (i.e. high population density value means taller buildings?)

Hi,

2) Does the population density layer change the height distribution of buildings in the autogen? (i.e. high population density value means taller buildings?)

As far as I know the height distribution is set in the AGN file itself. The BGL file with population density is only used for the amount of traffic as far as I know.

1) Is the house side texture on the autogen sheets related to a specific roof on the same texture sheet? (i.e. bldZ2.bmp)
It looks to me that this is entirely random -- within a particular area I see a pretty-much equal distribution of house textures, and the roofs are entirely random as well.
In New Zealand, the house walls are from BLDZ2, and the roofs are from BLDG2.

2) Does the population density layer change the height distribution of buildings in the autogen? (i.e. high population density value means taller buildings?)

As Arno said, the building height distribution is set for each texture tile, stored in the AGN file. I suspect you may be thinking of the one and two storey houses only -- I think FSX is pretty much hard-wired to display a lot more two-storey houses. It would be nice if this could be changed, but I don't think it is possible.

Ok cheers guys- Yeah I was hoping it may be possible to reduce the number of two story houses via the population density bgl.

Do you happen to know about the 'eave' portion of the texture? (i.e. some houses show a triangle upper story)- Some of my house textures don't match up well to these (i.e. dark gray house with a white upper portion :banghead:)
