• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.

FS2004 Unable To Change Attached Effect Heading

I have been trying to place an attached effect to an object. Apron flood 11 medium to be exact. I have no problem placing the effect, adjusting the position left, right, back or forwards., but not the heading. I am entering the value in the first orientation section (180.00: 0.00; 0.00). Haven't changed pitch or roll. No matter which value I enter, the heading is always the same. In this case not straight ahead aligned with the light pole, but facing the opposite direction. Is there a trick to changing the heading orientation? I entered 90 degrees and 70 but nothing. No other conditions applied like Day/Night. Thanks.

Are you sure you changed the right axes for the rotation? Did the effect rotate correctly in the preview?

The one I changed was labeled Orientation and the first set of numbers according to the note was heading. I did see the reference colors change. For example, the green or red bar would rotate accordingly. I can also see the node where the effect is located at moving horizontally or vertically on each axis. Can't see the effect in operation until loaded into FS2004. Once in FS the orientation is always the same.

Which version of MCX are you using? In the latest development release (and also in version 1.5) the three values you provide are the rotation around the X, Y and Z axes. So to change the heading you would have to alter the third value, not the first.

I am using 14.0.0. I finally discovered why the effect wasn't lining up with the item in FS2004. The object wasn't facing 0 degrees like in MCX so my reference was wrong. Corrected that. Was able to move the effect (Apron Flood) to align with the object and it looked correct in FS2004. Problem now is that when I move the object in FS2004 and place it into a different heading, say 135, the effect stays at 0.00. and not is way out of position. Also, when I use EZ Scenery to move the object, the apron light effect doesn't follow it until I reload FS. I did attach a steady rednav light effect for testing, and no problems there. Is it possible the Apron Flood effect is the problem? Not sure what else to change. Thanks!
