• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Unable to Import Any Format Except MDL

This extra check is for MCX only. But since it seems to be false positive, I'll remove it again soon. I need to find a fail safe way to detect if the 2015 redistributable is installed. Since it was that dependency that helped Rick to fix the crash.

It's interesting that no one appears to have had problems with scenProc and/or LibraryCreatorXML, about the 2015 Redistributables, since the Assimp64 is there in both now. Unless, of course they haven't installed them as yet ;).

These two tools don't actually use that dll file. It's used to read or write COLLADA, FBX, etc. Neither LibraryCreatorXML nor scenProc use that functionality. They do use other parts of the object reader and writer libraries, that's why the files are still installed.

This one is 1.4.0.0 47d09d3 DEV 1/8/2017.I apologize I dont understand the check question, if you mean for the download and/or if you mean for testing, I only downloaded and ran MCX.

Get the latest development release. It has an added check to see if the redistributables are installed. But that doesn't seem to work for everyone.

Hi,

I have changed the way I detect if the runtime files are installed. So hopefully in tomorrows build the false errors are gone as well.

As per the request, here is my MCX error log. This appears on the initial start, no other operations have been performed:
15:45 ModelConverterX Error ModelConverterX requires Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 runtime files for importing and exporting some formats, please make sure this version is installed

In addition here is a screen capture of what is currently installed relative to Visual C++

Hello...

Try loading a dae file and see what happens... if it loads ok... then it's just a false positive and ignore till tomorrow New update...

Hello,...

Received update notification for MCX v1.4.0.0 DEV 1/21/2017,... installed and not getting Error for Microsoft Visual C++ 2015 Redistributable needing to be installed,... Everything imported correctly. :greenflag

Thanks Arno!:)

Arno, I have the same results as Doug, no MS Visual C++ error, with the latest version.
THANKS!!!!

Glad to hear it seems to work as intended now.

On my Vista (64) I get the "visual C++" error message.

I have both (32 and 64) versions installed.

But MCX works without problems...
:scratchch

Which version of the Visual C++ redistributable do you have installed? I might check for the wrong version.

Thanks, I think I am checking for a slightly different version 14.0.14215 if I remember correctly. Let me see if I can do the check for a range of versions. Since it seems to work fine for you.
