• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

Hi,

At first, please apologize for my english, not my mother language !

I'm a newcomer and try to add some static aircrafts on airports. I discovered SAMM2 and succeeded in placing one aircraft at each time on a parking place.

Next step, I would like to prepare a library with several aircrafts from my "best of", so I can use RWY 12 to choose and place them.

I tried using the SAMM2 "make library" button after choosing two aircrafts. I tried with downloaded addons aircrafts and, as it wasn't working, I tried with FS9 starting aircrafts (Baron 58 and Bell 206B). Nothing changed... Every time, I get an error message as follow :

The FS9 compiler "doesn't like" something in the model file.

I'll make a few tests to see if I can duplicate the issue. If not, I''ll need the models you are using.

I can duplicate the problem, so I don't need your files. I'll get a fix out ASAP. In the meantime, since you are using FS9, why don't you use SAMM Version 1.1.16 - the latest general release of SAMM. It has the same capabilities re FS9 models.

You can get SAMM 1.1.16 by going to http://stuff4fs.com, navigating to the Applications/SAMM page and downloading the Latest Release.

You will be upgraded automatically to SAMM 2 when I eventually release it generally.

Thanks a lot, you did it very quickly. I must leave home this morning but I will try it in the evening, when back.

I'm a newcomer, so I didn't know it was better to use the previous 1.1.16 version. But now, with the corrected 2.011, my problem will disappear.

I wonder if SAMM works with RWY12 ?

My aim was to prepare a library with my "prefered" aircrafts and then, to place them every time I need, on an airport.

It appears that my library can't be read by RWY12. I understood it was necessary to name the library add_xxxx_etc. in order to be read in RWY12, so I did.

As I begin in this "job", maybe I dont understand something very basic ?
Of course, I read the tutos before trying, trying, and trying again since yesterday. Is there anything else to read carefully in order to succeed in my attempt or is it impossible to make those two softwares working together ?

Using FS9 / SAMM2011 / RWY12 1.1.2
 
SAMM doesn't "work" with Rwy12 or any other object placement tool, per se. SAMM prepares a standard FS9 or FSX library file, the required textures and, in the case of FS9, an associated index file named as the library and suffixed with ".txt". These files are then used by whatever object placment tool you are using.

I have no knowledge of the exact requirements of Rwy 12. (Perhaps other users can help.) But, I'd be very surprised if it didn't use standard FS9 library files. So, I suspect any issue lies with the index file.

Various FS9 placement tools use different formats, so SAMM generates an index file that will contain the essential information but perhaps, is in the wrong format for Rwy 12. So, you may have to manually edit that file to make it acceptable.

So it was my mistake, Don. Now, I understand why it doesn't work...

I think I will do so, and try this solution. It will be a good mean to understand "how it works".

Anyway, SAMM is very useful to prepare and place "static aircrafts" so I'm very happy with it.
