• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi Russel,

i can't seem to make the buil-in update feature working.Keep getting the same error message every time: ünable to connect to FSXPlanner server.Try again later.
Any suggestions?

Regards...Marc

Do you have any firewalls or other security applications that would prevent you from accessing port 8080?

Hi Russel,

Even if I dizable the vista firewall I can't get connected. No other securityprog installed not even antivirus.Only other thing installed is windows defender which is for antispy adware.

Regards...Marc

Port 8080 needs to be open in order for the update feature to work. If, for whatever reason, you cannot have port 8080 open, then you will have to download the new version from the web, and uninstall the existing version and then install the new version.

check for updates error message

Just started using fxs planner myself and i am getting the same error message. I am running Vista on on an AMD 2800+ with 1.5gb ram. I have just done some checking and see that port 8080 is listed as a HTTP: alternate (https://www.securetrust.com/resources/portsearch/port/8000/8499/) however numerous trogans and virus' attack that port. Can you reconfigue your ini to listen to a different port. My guess is that vista security center is blocking that port .

I do not have any problems connecting to the net with either firefox or IE

I have tested this in Vista and have not had a problem. During these tests I did not turn off any of Vista's security features. My guess right now is that certain Vista installations may have different security features enabled, and perhaps some of them block port 8080, and our test machines are not running with those features enabled.

As for changing to a different port, unfortunately we can't do that as we have many different applications using this same update concept, and it would break all of them.

Therefore if you are experiencing problems with the update process the other alternative is to download the application again, and simply reinstall it.

By default it would be open. However, windows firewall could be blocking java from accessing the internet. If you are using windows firewall, you can check that by opening windows firewall (Start -> Control Panel -> (double click windows firewall). Assuming it is on, then click the Exceptions tab and make sure that all the checkboxes next to the Java names are ticked. If Java is not listed then you can try clicking the Add Program button and adding Java to the list from that.

If you have a different firewall, then you'd have to check that to see what it is blocking.

I am using Norton Internet Security and even if I turn it off still get same error. My windows firewall is off as well.

if you guys are connected to the net via a router you have to open 8080 in your router
