What does this picture show? A texture sheet from a modeling project with 98 objects mapped to it. Yes, 98 objects, and if you use Max 2008 or newer you can apply a UVW Unwrap to all 98 at once and edit the layout at one go (if you're mad enough...) and render the result to texture like this:-
More sensibly, you can have a number of objects to lay out or add to a texture sheet and the whole job can be done in Max. No need to shuffle from LithUnwrap to Photoshop and back to Max (or Gmax). BTW, Max exports in .3ds for LithUnwrap if you want to make a neatly colour-coded template like you used to from Gmax - no Quake plugin needed.
I originally did this in Gmax, object by object. Thanks to the FFG toolset I now have the project in Max 2008 and am discovering what a boon its mapping tools are. They're simply amazing!!

Gmax is the ancient stuff for a quite while now, can't get people still using it.
I will delete all of my 3ds max Copies, so no one can chase me.
