• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

ive reached this point due to the help of the geniuses on this site....

its my first attempt.and ive exprimented with applying some textures to my model...

the image shows an unpainted map...ive uvw using standard mat..i remember reading something about gmax, that seemed to imply it might be a good idea to do this, purely for uvw mapping purposes..

ive a general notion about using layers in paintshop pro...panel lines, decals,rivets,scratches,etc...the maps dont always meet ,ie some stretching.

i understand several methods for fixing.not tried yet...this model is polished aluminium alloy..with faint panel lines.and some small decals,so i can fudge this for now..
i will get better at this, with experiance...

??? painting lots of small objects a single colour, how?using a small section on my bmp...thats going to be difficult to see in the mat editor...

???using the vert weld in uvw edit to map three views of a head, and turn into one ,cylinder, box, only seems to work on proper cylinders, boxes..multiple planars seem to work best for me...ps my head has no back, my pilot wears a helmet.he has been informed not to take of his helmet in case his brain falls out..

???placing several objects on top of one another,ie same but multiple objects??

fusalage is shiny.front of fusalage is matt black anti flash..layers??2 mats..

ive an idea how these things may be accomplished..but how would the experts do it...ps i want actually to carry on the texturing, and am not looking for perfection....so i can do this even in a fairly amatuar way, before i go back and experiment.in a quest for excellence,,sometime in the distant future...jim lots yet to be added to this map...its really usefull to load the psp map into gmax and add a new uvw mapped object.and move it into place.glad i figured that out.jim

Good work Jim, but I'd get this map on to your model in the sim before trying painting anything. That way you can see straight away where the ghastly stretchy bits are and where you don't need to do anything more. Why paint a crock when you can paint on Royal Worcester? ;)

My first attempt:-

Second attempt (much better!):-

very smooth

this is my modded attempt in gmax looks slightly better in the sim...

impatience is not a virtue, so i will patiently and with great peace of mind, see
how much i can learn from my horrible mistakes....this painting thing is a work of craft and artistry...4 hours to F1 grand prix qualy...ime of to practice on my F1 2010 pc game..cheers jim
