• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX VC Shadows

There is, of course, a demonstration of manifold geometry in the FSX SDK help file. Under Index/FSX Material scroll to the bottom image of the teapot and click on "Volume Shadow not manifold".

Thanks for the reminder, Anthony ! I think i'm on to it.

Cheers,
Jan

Ah, Ok, thanks, Warwick ! I'll give it a try and see how far i can get.

Btw, i see you replied to a question that Lionheart posted about vibration. I'd love a bit of vibration in my VC as well. I tried 'engine_rocker_arm' with immidate success. Yiihaa!! :) But it is continues atm and i'd like it to only appear at low rpm or, possibly, only during taxi. Could this be achieved with the 'engine_arm_code' or do i better 'use one of the RPM vars' like you suggested ?

Thanks much again, mate !

Cheers,
Jan
Hi Mate
Either will do you just need to setup the code with a range condition, so if 100 to 1500 rpm shake, else 0
Ive played around with the vibration stuff before, issue I see is you have 2 engines so you will have to be careful to mix both outputs, also your using a visual cue to model a felt cue :)
I get the rubber mounted dash/panel shaking at certain revs and also the needles but if everything is hard mounted then the pilot and aircraft shake together :)
The shake and rattle you get when running along the ground is hard to model as the suspension in fsx ect is pretty floaty at best, and once again its felt rather than seen ..maybe use a combo of wheel rotation and engine sync with a tad of engine rpm :) also in fsx we have head shake, never really played with that but you can alter it for each aircraft....
