• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Vertex Painting and data export

Hi Arno
I´m using EEP, this is a train simulation software, using a very old standard. To import objects to the software you can only use obj or .x format. I know that the software can import obj files with colored vertex. So if you would like to add to MCX this would be great for me. For importing standard obj files to EEP, with normal texturing, your current export tools work fine.
Beside this I wanted to say thank you for this great and very very useful software tool!!
Please let me know how I can make a little donation for your great work.

Hi Arno
Thank you for your effort. But it was my mistake. .x format can´t be used by my software to import the painted vertices. This can only be imported by the proprietary obj format.
Best regards
Stefka

OK. Guess you are out of luck then, unless the proprietary OBJ format that EEP uses is documented somewhere.

Hi Arno.
I think its not, or I don´t have access to it. Thank you for your support.

Hi Walter:

Considering the statement made regarding implementation of vertex colors in this thread from the AC3D forum:

http://www.inivis.com/forum/showthread.php?p=32773

"Vertex Colors would involve huge changes to the internals of AC3D and I don't think it would benefit many users. Sorry."

...perhaps you might take a 'direct route' and contact Ralph Görbing:

...to ask him (as a recognized EEP 3D content developer) via the EEP forum, whether / how he implements vertex colors on 3D models intended for EEP ?

Hi GaryGB
Thank you for your additional comments.
I´m not working with AC3D, I use Sketchup and I know that out of the very primitive construction program within EEP, there is a way to construct painted vertices. But this program is so bad and outdated, that I was trying to find a more suitable/moden/usable solution for the problem.
Thank you again for your support.
