• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Vertical Replenishment (VERTREP) mission

Started toying with this idea today -- fly a helo with hoist and sling to move cargo from the deck one ship over onto the deck of the carrier. Right away, I ran into trouble making the 'cargo' objects sit on deck of the ship. The ship moves, the objects do not, and so they just fall off into the water. Any pointers?

EDIT: I manged to make it sit OK on the carrier deck, although it shifts or skids a few feet along the deck at the start of the mission. Am not sure, but I think unclicking the 'object sitting on ground' helped.

Had much less success making it show up on my resupply ship - it seems to move around on deck more, and more often than not it slides off the deck into the water. I tried adjusting the speed of the ship and that had no effect.

In both cases it drops and crashes onto the deck, kicking up a cloud of dust (need those sailors to swab the deck a little better before flight ops).

Maybe play with the values in the sim.cfg file of the objects. In any case make the ship go straight with a low and even speed.

Thanks for the suggestion -- I also did more experimenting, and this is what I found:

The speed of the ship did not seem to play a role. However, the timing of the objects actually appearing on deck did make a big difference in the behavior.

I used a timer trigger, gave my AI ships 3 seconds to become more stable, and then spawned the cargo objects.

In this case I did use the 'objects on ground' and this now works great.
