• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Visibility range

Is it possible to reduce visibility of gmax models? I would like to create some objects that became visible at distances of 200-500m. Is there any tweak for that?

Second question is about LODs.
I know how to create LODs from object which is created from one edited box, but....
I have created one complex terminal building and control tover. Those objects are created from few boxes, Ngons, ....
Can I, somehow attach those objects for future cloning for LOD creation?
Do I need to use attach comand in Gmax or something else?

I don't know which gamepack you are using? In the old one you can set this range when you export, with the Fs2004 gamepack that is not possible. But with the tool MDLTweaker I made you can add a condition for the distance to refpoint to limit the visibility.

Have a look at this thread. I think it will answer most of your questions about LODs.

Thanks Arno! My questions sounds stupid sometimes , but only because I cant find information in so much threads! There are so many of them. :(

Can you explain to a dummy like me what do do?

I want to restrict the visibility of some ground polys to e.g. 300 ft ...

Very easy, see the attached screenshot that shows the settings required in MDLTweaker. This will restrict the visibility of that MDL to 300 meters.

But for ground polygons that might not work, as these are in general not made with GMax. Or did you make them with GMax?
