• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Wanted: DHC8 100 Flight Model

Tried contacting Majestic Simulations? They did a very good D8-300 and 400.
 
Thanks, but a 400 is a completely different aircraft than a 100. We are looking only for a Dash 8 100.

And FSX/P3D do not do Flight dynamics simulation, it reads the text data instead. So you can make building fly like 747.

Thanks for the replies. We are looking for a Dash 8 100 flight model that will fly like the real aircraft, not just a 3D model.
 
We have already spoken to them several months ago and they are not interested in making a Dash 8 100 anytime soon. My engineers and I have already done months of research trying to find a company that could assist us before posting on this forum so we have obviously already spoken to companies like Majestic. What we're hoping to find is someone who makes flight models on the side because we could not find any companies that are interested in making a DHC8 100 flight model. This is not a common airplane like a B737 or King Air.

Have you consulted with Rob Young? He made amazing flight models, maybe he could help you.
 
Have you tried contacting Aerosoft or JustFlight? They have flight dynamics people and you could, in turn, secure a publishing deal.
 
Yes, I sent emails to JustFlight a while back but no one replied. I also tried to call them in the UK and all I got was a recording with no way to leave a voice message. I did not come across Aerosoft, thanks for that! I will try to contact them next.

X-Planes flight modeling might be more elaborate than MSFS', but they are both mere simulations of the real thing.
CPU power that is used for FD simulation in X-Plane can be used for AI traffic and other shenanigans in FSX.
FSX is also much more popular in the FS crowd, so there's a bigger target audience.

Are you trying to go for a certified flight simulator for professional training, with hardware et al?
If so, you really might want to consider X-Plane, which is FAA approved for flight training.

If you're bound to FSX/P3D by contractual obligations or so, contact Majestic again and ask if you can license their YASIM implementation for MSFS. YASIM does a bit of a better job than MSFS and might enable you to circumvent the odd caveat in MSFS' approach.
 
P3D based projects are also approved for flight training - I know I am late, but I had to add that so it doesn't seem that XPL is the only option.
