• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

What causes the flickering here?

Hey!
I have a problem....
Since I don't know no better scenery of EBBT than the one I have on http://users.telenet.be/jiv1/ebbt20.zip , I may ask what happens here.
When installed, and one goes to the tarmac, there is a permanent flickering of the concrete on the ground, which is very disturbing.
This scenery dates from quite some time ago and was not made for FS9, mayby for FS98, I don't know exactly, but it reflects very well the local situation on the real airfield.
What can it be that causes this flickering, and what can one do to eliminate it?
Al belgian simmers would be very pleased if there would be something that can be done against this....
Does anyone know a solution?

Hi,

Usually flickering is caused by incorrect flattens (so that the area below the airport is not flat) or by wrong layer numbers on ground polygons (or even worse ground polygons made without proper layers).

But to solve most of these issues you need to be the designer of the scenery (or at least have access to its source code). I get the impression that is not hte case here, so I am afraid you can't do very much to solve it.

Thank you, Arno!
This gives me not great hope!..hehe....
But.... If I understand well, the origin of the problem is in the bgl itself? I did not know that inside the bgl there are specific parts where one can make even mistakes by putting them in the wrong order...
Is it possible to analyze and repair, only for the scenery maker himself, or can an experienced other scenery maker solve the problem, do you think so?....

No, in general it is very hard to solve this if you are not the designer of the airport. It is possible to decompile the BGL into SCASM code and fix it in there, but usually this is breaking the copyright of the origional author and besides that you need to know the SCASM code to find something useful in there.
