• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

What do you want from an SDK in DTG Flight Simulator (Official Discussion)

Sorry it's not a full answer

Being able to edit and see material changes in real time would be sweet.

Also photoreal imagery for hard winter would be good. Not a set date but just conditionally when it snows.

You might do like Microsoft, and have two versions of the DTG FS, one with the SDK for those who wish to get involved with development, and one without. I am sure they made extra profits when users paid again for the SDK version down the road, and DTG would not even incur the cost of the DVDs and packaging.

No, please don't make two versions. It was very frustrating for people using FS2002 that they bought the wrong version and could not make new content when they later wanted to do so. Remember most people will start flying the sim and later they will realize their favorite city, airport or airplane is not as they want. So at that point they will go into small development changes to the content. And once they got hooked up to that they might end up as a developer like most of us here :)

If you want an example of the collective enthusiasm for some FS projects, have a look at the C47 released today at Sim Outhouse. This FSX/P3D add-on is built to a very high standard inside and out, has an extremely comprehensive sound set and systems, new flight model and is by a truly international team. And it's free.

None of this would be possible without the amount of understanding now extant of the documented and undocumented features of FSX. If DTG can release a truly comprehensive SDK, projects like this will be possible with their new sim from early on, instead of years hence.

BTW, you may have bother getting on to SOH, the server is currently besieged by downloaders trying to get their hands on the model ... in fact as of Sunday evening there have been over 2,000 downloads from the SOH servers. At 177MB each time, thats over a third of a terabyte of bandwidth in just three days (ouch!)

Worth noting that as of this morning Martin has said on avsim they are not collecting any more responses concerning sdk...
I wonder if that just relates to avsim or here as well?

WHAT ??????
:banghead:
Then they are Idiots and very dump - but good to know. I would on next Friday buy me FSX SE - and now I dont do that.

They are overwhelmed , just like with the SDK for Train Sim

Pahhh - I have FSX ACC installed - I don´t must have buying me FSX-SE

Bye Bye DTG Flight Sim

Wow everyone! A big thank you to everyone who has taken the time to answer this thread, and tell us about your experiences with the SDK.

Your answers have been very helpful and have given us a lot to think about. I can't lock the thread (any kind mods out there please?), but please note that we will not be collecting any further responses on this subject.

Please keep an eye out for more discussion threads about other topics coming very soon.

Once gain, thank you all so very much.

Why would you lock the thread? Has the SDK shipped? This thread is exactly one week old, anybody who's been on vacation that didn't get a chance to provide their own valuable feedback is going to feel like DTG has priorities that don't include listening to the community.

Not at all =rk=! We want to listen to as many people as possible, but we need to draw a line somewhere. We have been running similar threads across our own forums and many other community spaces. We have had hundreds of replies so far, and combined with all the feedback and ideas we have also collected over the last six months we are swimming in data from flight simmers.

I suggested that the thread be locked because I don't want people to feel like their feedback is not being read or responded to. There is nothing more frustrating than writing a long reply and feeling like no one cares. There are lots of different areas of the sim we really want to talk to people about and get their feedback on. This means that we need to move along at a reasonable pace otherwise we will not be able to cover everything.

We need to take a moment, catch our breath, take a look at where we are and what you have told us so far. This allows us to identify trends and the features which people have repeatedly told us about. From there we can come back to this topic a little later and ask more focused questions. This is not the end, it is just the beginning.

Bambi, to build for FSX SE, use the FSX Acceleration sdk or P3D 1.4 sdk. This thread is about the sdk for the new 64-bit Dovetail Flight Simulator which is months away yet.

it would be Dovetail Games Flight School and Dovetail Games Flight Simulator will both be available on PC
Why nobody have talked about "sloped runways"? would be a new great feature. though I guess should be specialized tools for this Kind of runways. for créate the runwayas lights placement. and for ai traffic of course. no more working with vectors and flatten polygons. though problably it would be a new flight simulator from scratch.

As per the request, I'm locking the thread... of course someone could start another thread.
