• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Did you try to see what happens? ;)

I would say the answer is yes, but a test is always the best way to find out :)

Ok I tested and actually FS elevates every kind of surfaces, land or water. This has been a test before create my 3d coastline. Finally I decided, for this project, to use a flatten surface with groundpoly applied above as Martin did on Boston Logan Airport.
If I'll able to refine my GMax skills, in the next scenery I will try 3d coastline :)

Hi Folks

ras78 -
Adding an area based GMax poly
to create your terrain requirements
may cause user problems
for those using different terrain meshes,
or fsx.CFG resolution settings,
disimilar from those you have installed/configured on your PC.
e.g.
They may see height mismatches at your GMax poly's boundaries.

Instead recommend using a blended flatten,
extending over the entire airport area.

Create your required shape in either ADE or FSXKML.

See George's, (Golf-Hotel Delta), various posts on this subject.
e.g. Terrain Polygon Types and Tags.

EDIT
Please ignore all above.
Just notice your ref to FS2004.

Thanks BASys,
for now I think the choice I took is the best. In any case, trying 3d coastline requires to redesign also LWM obj as they should follow your gmax model shape, right?
