• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

What Program?

Try to download AFCAD program, with that program you can arrange traffic on an airport.
The second program is Flight Simulator Scenery Creator. That program allows you to create buildings, towers, etc.
You can also use a program named GroundMaker, which allows you to create the environment (forests, rivers, lakes,etc.).

Here's a link and try to download them.:)

You might also want to take a look at Sbuilder. As far as I recall FSSC does not handle the newer FS9 objects and xml placement. SceneGenX can also handle both trype and make runways etc. Personally I use AFCAD2 to re-arrange airport data such as runways, and SBuilder is my main design tool for environmental stuff inclduing landclass, roads, rivers etc. I use SBuilder for placement of older API macros and my own utility (LOM/SM) for FS9 stuff, but SBuilder will do that just as well.
If your goal is to enhance an airfield only then EZ-Scenery from Abacus seems to be a popular choice although it is payware. Alternatives include RWY12 and Arno's Object Placer XML.

As Jon already indicated, my personal preference when designing airports Fs2004 style, is to use AFCAD for the general layout and place the objects in XML style with an object placer (I use my own ObPlacer XML of course, but Rwy12 or EZ-Scenery do the job as well).

Since I have moved to the Fs2004 techniques I hardly ever use the tools like Airport for Windows, FSSC or GroundMaker anymore. Only if you have your objects still in the API format that might be useful.
