• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Note this pic... the airplane is situated completely BEHIND the fence, however, there is a bleed problem. I'm using V3.5.1

How do i fix this bleed problem?

I don't know if this will solve anything, but did you mip map AND DXT1 your bmps for your plane and\or your fence? Not doing this can cause a drawing order problem. Bob

nope... didn't make any difference, other than making my fence horrendously ugly and choppy.

I have heard a lot about drawing order but I have never experienced it as yet. I do all my pics/textures as Extended 32bit 888-8. I have never really had any problems since I started making them this way.
Here is a pic I just knocked up!
I made the fence with MSPaint then pushed it through DXTBmp and saved as I said before as an extended bmp 32bit 888-8. In DXTBmp I have the mipmaps made automatically and the transparency with pure green.
Actually the pic is just a way to show off my latest fire engine! :) which I made using the same method - MSPaint/DXTBmp

Hello

(FSX - FSDS 3.51)

Interested too with texture saving format; so far I used DXTBMP and DXT1.
I cannot get (transparent display of alpha zones. I'll try green alpha, and 888-8 format.

I have another transparency problem with LM textures; at dawn, some faces of buildings display transparent; may this be caused by my texturing method: I only "poly" mode textured external sides; do internal faces, even not seeable, need to be textured too?

Other texture question: how to easily create a LM file for an existing texture file?

Thanks for answers.

Hi. I solved a problem like that reducing the opacity of the material to 0% in Gmax. Try to see if that helps.

I do not have FSX - only FS9 - so what I say refers only to FS9.
In FS9 - to create a night texture you simply copy and paste the same texture then rename the new texture.
e.g. Texture name - bricks.bmp ; new name - bricks_lm.bmp
There are some posts relating to this concerning FSX because I do not think the _lm addition is needed but please do a search.
Perhaps if Arno or someone else reads this, they will put you right on what is what with FSX and textures etc. :)
BTW - having created the new 'bricks_lm.bmp' texture, I like to then darken the whole texture by 50% using PSP-X.
Any object should normally have the polygons facing outwards this is what the texture goes on. The inside face of the polygon is transparent. You need to check nothing has gotten switched around.
As far as the dawn textures being transparent is concerned - sounds interesting. Why don't you upload the texture and a pic of what are you seeing then perhaps I could look at it?
Please remember that what I say refers to FS9.

Hello
Thanks for answer.
I'll try to send pics as soon as possible.
I just read topic concerning the same transparency problem with LM textures. It seems the solution would be to convert to DXT1 without alpha channel. I'll test it.
