• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Good morning everyone,

I have been designing airports with ADE for quite some time and decided that the time had come to push it further scenery wise in my FSX.
As i am very comfortable learning new soft wares, i went ahead and got familiar with FS Earth tiles so i can have some photo realistic scenery of my region.
I was successful at editing the masks for the water lines, create my bgl's and have them to show in FSX.
Sadly, any lakes i have in these bgl's that were not part of the default FSX scenery is showing in brown...no water.

I believe i understand the how to fix it but unsure about which tool to use at this point in time.
If my understanding is correct, i have to create polygons to exclude the default FSX ground polygons, then on top of that, new water polygons to recreate these missing lakes.

Am i getting this right, what would be the best tool to perform such stunt?

Thank you in advance for any help provided on this matter. Truly appreciated.

Hello:

A few folks here use FSET, but IMHO, it would be easier if you first learn basic concepts of SDK work-flow required via SBuilderX.

FYI: I just posted a few helpful links to that type of info in this thread:

If you wish to proceed with SBuilderX 3.15, you may also wish to review at least the first few pages of this very long, but informative thread:

Feel free to inquire further if you have more questions. :)

Hi Gary,
I have completed my reading covering terrain design within FSX. As for SbuilderX... 3.14 is running ok, but 3.15 keeps on trying to download images without ever getting there.. Am i missing a config to applied to it or this the no so stable behavior people are referring to?? Thank you very much for your help on this matter. Patrick

Hi Patrick:

The SBuilderX startup message you allude to above can be ignored if you installed the "Full" ZIP of a working SBuilderX version 3.15 folder chain made available by rhumbaflappy with all needed files intact:

https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/sbuilderx-v315.441705/

If you are unable to find the thread containing the link for that "Full" ZIP package in the SBuilderX forum, please let us know. :-)
