• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

    Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

    By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

I have purchased FS2020 and it states that it will be installed on "my device".

However, "my device" is defined as my computer, not a disk!

Where will it be installed?
 
The sim follows Microsoft standards as best as it can. It'll install the base component somewhere in the system. But when you start the sim you can select a folder into which the packages are being installed.
 
Let me know if you find something.

I'm still trying to figure out a way to get the paths to the packages folder for external installers. There's no more registry entries, that makes it quite difficult to locate the right folders...
 
I think that everyone in the UK is downloading it at the moment :banghead:

It seems to be stuck at 20% and has locked the screen :scratchch

OK, it has now started the installation, just 90GB to go :)

I was able to select an install drive (not folder) to install the initial 'app', and then when you install the content you can choose any location/folder you wish.
EDIT: Thinking about it, this is similar to the way other Windows apps work, although you don't get to select each app's location, you can 'shift' an app to another drive after installation, as well as set a default drive for future apps. For MFS, they've altered this a bit by offering the drive choice when you install the app.
 
core is installed wherever MS want it to go. You should be able to select the destination of content which is the bulk of the installation
 
The application will be installed in a default location - I am not sure you can change that and it will depend if you get the installer from Microsoft or Steam

You should have the opportunity to decide where to put the content (which represents most of the Gbs)
 
I recall that you can choose the drive for the 'core' files, but not the location. For the main install (91GB?) you can choose any location you wish. This is with the MS store version.
