• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Where's FSX SDK SP1 (not SP1A) at FSInsider.com?

I can't seem to find FSX SDK SP1 (not the recent SP1A) anywhere for download on fsinsider.com. Can anybody find it? If so, please post me a link. I'm going nuts here trying to re-install my SDK setup and I can't get the update.

Thanks,

Si

Sorry. I got it into my head that SP1A was needed in addition to SP1.
Microsoft have just clarified that I don't, replying to an email I sent to tell_fs! Is this a first?! :)

Um, that's not entirely accurate! You DO need to install the SDK SP1a if you plan on doing any modeling, texturing, gauge creation, etc.

However, you won't find the SDK anywhere at fsinsider.com because it is only distributed on DVD#1 of the "Deluxe" edition of FSX.

ACES have throughly confused many people with the "names" they've given their update files.

SIM: FSX installation + FSX SP1

SDK: FSX SDK installation + SDK SP1a

The "old " FSX SDK SP1 has been depecrated and replaced by FSX SDK SP1a.

Hi Bill,

I assume that is what he tried to ask :). I got the impression he thought the correct order was installing SDK, then SDK SP1 and then SDK SP1A. In that case you can't find SDK SP1 anymore, as it is indeed no longer needed.

That is correct, Arno. It was SDK SP1 I was asking about, not FSX SP1.

If SP1A replaces SP1 and doesn't require it, then why couldn't they simply call it SP2 and do away with half the confusion?..

Guess this one was called SP1A because the next one will be SP2!

Well, the first SDK SP1 was called that before we knew there would be a FSX SP1, so the current SDK SP1A was called that so it was still related, name wise, with the FSX SP1 that it goes along with (we couldn't just call it SDK SP1 since that name was already used :-> ), if we had called it SDK SP2 it wouldn't have been as clear that it was related with FSX SP1 - there does that confuse the issue sufficiently :->
