• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX Wick airfield (epgc)

A stock airport. Got rid of most of teh existing items except navaids of course. Notice the large rectangles of grass at each end. I'm trying to get rid of those by using Xbuilder. I can add grass, but I really want to cover up those areas at each end and perhaps redo some on the sides.

I tried using LC- cool forest, and many others. Nothing shows up even though the bgl compiles fine. I can't seem to get any maps to show, in order to choose something from there. But then I've tried upgrading my SDK to the newer SP2, following instructions. Message said installed successfully, but I don't see any changes as to 'tools' in FSX menu.

Had to redirect my FSDS to the new SDK to get it to work again... it does.

So, am I missing a step or two or is my machine hopelessly screwed? :) Bob

The large rectangles at the ends, are you talking about the airport boundary rectangle? If you can post an image, that would help too.

Yes- those are the airport boundary rectangles. IN Xbuilder I attempted to cover them with airport 1 texture. One end covered. The other didn't. I've tried various LC's... nada. And unless I'm doing something wrong I can't seem to get any maps to open... like virtual earth, ask satillite, etc. Maybe I just don't know how. Been reading up on this. Forums tell you to do this or that but they fail miserably in telling you HOW to do it.

Since it is a default airport, am I stuck with this rectangle? Bob

Got as far as trying to load a map. I did a show backgroiund then edit - prefs- virtualsat. Tiles ran down to 0, nothing showed up. Did this with Googlesat. baqck groiund shows- failed to load. Did this with Yahoomaps- message in background hard to read but something about sorry could not load go to site and refresh browser.

I can take a pic and save it as backgorund the load that from Xbuilder, but I'm not getting the loads from maps. Wonder if installig the newer SDK format in FSX SDK has anything to do without?

Messed with TMViewer, got no detail but at least found the airport I'm working on. All I see are fuzzy squares. I messed up somewhere! :) Bob
