• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Windsock

Hi Paul,

That is good to hear :).

Normally the windsock should update right away. If it doesn't that usually means that you do not have a windsock (or other object that rotates with the wind) on two places on your current screen.

Hi Arno,

Well this is all odd, I wsn't happy with the end results so I had another play with my Gmax objects. They all exported fine. went to use CAT and I keep getting a runtime error 13, file type mismatch  this is odd because it worked fine the other day

Any ideas

Are you sure you are opening the correct ASM files? Sounds like you are trying to open a _0.asm file or maybe use the same for input and output.

No it is really odd, I am using the .asm file, same as when I created the original on Friday. Could it be something to do with the .asm files from my export from Gmax being corrupted?

Update..re-installed CAT and everything compiled, trouble is I am back to square one, nice looking windsock, dummy post by the side to assist with the rotate, but it just doesn't rotate ate all. not unless I shut down and restart. Also I have noticed that despite looking okay in Gmax, with some of the changes in direction, the windsock moves back and ends up with the pole going right through the middle of it :banghead: :banghead:

I decided to completely rebuild, less polys etc. Now the windsock looks better, I have put the rotating post by the side, blow me down, one minute it works, then it doesn't, any ideas before I just give up

Couple of questions, in Gmax top view, I have 00 degree pointing straight up, however to get 60dg, I have to type in -60, I just have a feeling it may have something to do with this anyone know how I should be getting this rotation to work

One other thing I noticed, despite totating around in Gmax fine, in FS9(when I rotate upon start) the post ends up sticking through the windsock, as though the windsock has moved back upon rotation.

Who would have though something so simple would be so complicated,

:banghead: :banghead: give up, I have 2 nice looking windsocks but although they move, despit trying everything I cannot get them to rotate or change strength without closing and starting FS9, ah well :( move on to the next project
