• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2004 "XML file does not contain airport" error

So I have been trying to do some work on a few BluePrint simulation sceneries, KLAX and KMSP specifically.

Since the AFCADs that come with the update are HUGE and I can't edit it solely. I did an extended compile "complex split" on them and it worked fine with KLAX....but! with KMSP when it splits them all up, in the APN (Apron) one, there is no Aprons at all, I have checked the xml file and it all seems fine, but whenever I try to open the xml file in ADE, it says that the xml file does not contain an airport and therefore will not be loaded.

Anyone have a look and see what is wrong? I have uploaded it in .txt format instead of .xml, no biggy!

Cheers

Having loaded the airport, you will need to "Import" the xml rather then open it.

But, why don't you open the ad4 file?

Ok, so I opened the AF2_KMSP_TXN.bgl file (which is the main one with taxiways, runways, parking etc) and imported the _APN.xml file, it said "validating XML" and then none of the aprons appeared. It's stayed exactly the same?

There was no .ADE/.AD2 file if that's what you meant, just the .BGL/.XML file

Your xml file does contain an airport (so you should be able to open it), but it is too large for the FS9 compiler.

It will open in ADEX:

It may be possible to open the original bgl in either Afcad2 or AFX.

Managed to solve it, the file was far too big to compile like you say, so I opened the original bgl file and deleted a ton of vertexs from each Apron thus saving lines of code to compile.

Thanks for the help
:)
