• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA xml question

actually I have both but i believe the one without the ai.bgl.xml was the one I work with. The other was from another attempt but I'll try.

still- nada

I'm missing something very simple here, I'll bet.

Here's a shot of both xml's open.

Just to mention it again.... This bglcomp..... from Opa. Maybe it's from FS9. Anyway I tried all this by going directly to my SDK for FSX and used that bglcomp... same thing.
Anyway i again compiled for a rotating beacon and that worked. But then it is using attachpoint.... pointing to a default beacon in FS9 I presume. Bob

You don't have both according to the first screenshot you posted, you typed (pasted) bglcomp "B58 Hustler AI.xml" into the command window which is telling bglcomp to compile precisely "B58 Hustler AI.xml", not "B58 Hustler AI.txt" and not "B58 Hustler AI.bgl.xml". You did not have a "B58 Hustler AI.xml" in that folder at that time.

Just to mention it again.... This bglcomp..... from Opa. Maybe it's from FS9.

I think you're onto something there, my bglcomp.xsd is 86Kb where from your screenshot yours is showing 68.8 Kb. The FS9 version is not going to know what to do with the FSX style GUID. Go into your Microsoft Flight Simulator X SDK\SDK\Environment Kit\BGL Compiler SDK folder and copy bglcomp.exe and bglcomp.xsd from there into "flightsim design tools\Rotating Beacon\Work Folder" (the folder shown in your screenshots), overwriting both of the existing files.

From your last screenshot the B58 Hustler AI.txt looks like it should work, after replacing bglcomp.exe as outlined above, simply drag B58 Hustler AI.txt and drop it on bglcomp.exe and see what happens.

Yes the xsd is bigger in my sdk. But I have tried these there as well with no luck. both of you can compile it and my friend Robystar just now compiled it.

So I've done this right, but on my machine something ain't right.

Funny- I can compile bgl's from FSDS, but on my own this isn't working. AND- my computer store admits they don't know anything about bgls.

Well, thank you all for the help. If anyone has further ideas, let me know. At least I'm on the right track.... my machine isn't.... it seems.

It was only 150 yrs ago... all we had to worry about was getting the lower 40 plowed and hoping the kids don't get the pox or cholera! :) Bob

Could it be possible that my bglcomp for FSX is corrupt? Would I download the bglcomp and bglxsd or is there more to download? Bob

Well- Bless his heart. Robystar sent me a copy of bglcomp and the xsd. It works now. Again, Thanx to all of you for your help in investigating this. Bob
