• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

    MSFS20 Any rights violation?

Ok @rhumbaflappy was only a question. Asking the more experienced creators we can improve every day in the correct way. At devsupport web I think they are bussy, all the suggestions, bug fixes I helped with, contributing ideas to improve the sim.... never obtain response. And posting knowledge...

    MSFS20 Any rights violation?

Hi all, I wonder to know if I made something unautorized or ilegal according to development rights. This is my first mod for MSFS and I would to know your opinion about this question: https://flightsim.to/file/46419/get-rid-of-fix The mod is only to fix the registration numbers for the AI and...

    Edit norm.dds textures

Finally I found the solution for if someone need it. The compression type used by the norm textures in MSFS is BC5 (linear, signed). Resizing and saving with the proper format (albedo and compossite can use DXT1 if aren't transparent) we can make lighter those AI version liveries. Also works...

    Edit norm.dds textures

Or maybe normals can't be edited? Searchinfo about it confuse me more, but seems normals aren't textures like the albedo and composite :/

    Edit norm.dds textures

Hi all, how can I resize a norm.dds texture? I've done it with paint.net and gimp (only scale image) but the result looks like shadows in the sim: I have some norm.dds textures at 4096px but I want resize to 1024px. Cheers

    MSFS20 3D design optimization tips

Thank you very much! :) I discovered that unwrap using seams making it easy, and later deleting the seam in edit mode, the UV map doesn't change xD. Looks like the seams are only used by the modelling program and not by the graphic engine ^^

    MSFS20 3D design optimization tips

Hi :) The pics are from an imported default aircraft from MSFS only to make the example pics, I also don't like to use triangles hehe. Sorry for my english, my question was a little bit confuse. I'll rewrite it. Once the model is running at the sim (MSFS), what model will be more FPS friendly...

    MSFS20 3D design optimization tips

Hi all, What is more FPS friendly when doing UVs, to use seams or unwrap one of the faces separately?

    MSFS20 Model exported glitches

Oh yeah it works!! I'm reading the SDK little by little and didn't found that rule... Is it at the SDK documentation? I think i need to start reading a totally noob MSFS 3D creation documentation xD. I never would have figure out that rule, because imported models from Asobo to Blender, have...

    MSFS20 Model exported glitches

Upsss I didn't know that, thank you! I will try :) Is it possible to apply several textures to only one material? I mean, if now I have three material with one texture each one, would be nice to have only one material with three different textures. Cheers

    MSFS20 Model exported glitches

I just discover that the problem aren't the copied materials, the problem is the position on the list of materials in Blender :S The material positioned at first position looks OK, the others no. Some ideas? Cheers

    MSFS20 Model exported glitches

Hi all, In blender I see the model OK: (don't worry, it will be a mirrored UV) But after compile it in MSFS I see it like a hippie version: The glitched areas are wing and tail. I found the problem is when I add new materials, once compiled in MSFS the color change. The first material for...

    MSFS20 3D design optimization tips

Okay so that's the reason why Asobo disabled the livery in LOD4, and uses the decals method, performance. I can't deal with transform creators' liveries on to a decal method. So I think the most fps friendly in my case would be use the textures fuselage, wings and tail within only one texture. I...

    MSFS20 3D design optimization tips

I am fixing in MSFS the Asobo C152 LODS. The addons liveries dissapears at some LODS, exactly at the LOD04 that doesn't loads any livery. The original LOD04 has 17k tris and decals method for coloring. Mine model has 800 tris and the fuselage, wings and tail rescaled original textures. My...

    MSFS20 3D design optimization tips

Hi everyone, What is more FPS friendly for distant LODS, a complex 3d model (17.000 tris) with no UV maps and no textures (only colors in materials), or a low poly 3d model (800 tris) with UV maps and textures? Someone know where can I find a guide about 3d modeling optimization for games? Cheers
