• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi Shamrock122, I am working on a blue light in GMAX and am familiar with most of the steps you describe. One question however - what effect did you add? in the FSX Game pack as described in Step 3? I have scoured the list and can't find a "blue light" Cheers and thanks for any...

Further Question re: Gmax and Lights

Hi Everyone, Hey, totally cool, I just discovered Page two of Nick W.'s post that has been "stickied" to this forum ( "a little reading is a dangerous thing...") and the wiki article on lights on aprons here...

Further Question re: Gmax and Lights

Further Question re: Gmax and Lights

Good Morning All, I finally got my single light working. Now I would like to make an array of lights in GMAX. I have used the Array command as listed in the GMAX Bible, but the resulting object will not export to an MDL file. My plan is make an array of lights ( a single line)...

FSX Yes its lights again and GMAX

Hi Everyone, I am working on the proverbial "GMAX and lights" problem. My aim is to place lights on my airborne air carrier and scenery object using the OPT and a mission editor program. I have looked at the FSD tutorial and followed the suggestions regarding the creation of lights in...

Much a do about Transparency, Maybe

Hi again, Success! I have been able to land on my hard-deck runway (floating in the air) AND the textures have displayed! I rechecked all the "objects" in the GMAX scene; I think the "platform_Concrete_0" was indeed off in the "Z" axis. I am learning that you must be extraordinarily...

Much a do about Transparency, Maybe

Hi Everyone, I have been tinkering with the runway scenery object to reduce the number of planes (i.e. geometric surfaces). I have also learned about materials and transparency along the way. Solve one problem, get another....so, I have now got a runway with the correct texture on it...

Much a do about Transparency, Maybe

Hi Arno, Thanks for your reply. Yes, there is "concrete 01" and "concrete 02" and the "runway". So, in total three planes. So, delete the supplementary plane? Cheers and thanks! John

Much a do about Transparency, Maybe

Hi Arno, Thank you for your reply and for looking at this issue. I used the tutorial from here(below URL) in the initial construction of the hard-deck. http://users.skynet.be/maximil/Tutorial_GMAX_for_FSX.htm The main polygon shows up because it is a "floating" runway. This is only a...
