• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Might be because we are using BGLC_9 as the compiler?

So it looks like the asm source is being created but it is not being compiled. When you compile with ADE do you get the Command line window?

No, there doesn't seem to be a command window, but it may be too quick for me to catch it.

The problem, I think, is that it needs some header macros and a BGLHeader statement.

Does my file work on your system?

Yes it does. I loaded your project file and compiled it. Got a Bgl file that was placed in the appropriate scenery folder along with the AFD and cvx files. I wonder if this is an XP thing?

EDIT
Also if I drag the .asm file over BGLC_9.exe I get the bgl file created with no errors.

The problem is that there is between 5 and 7 hours difference between Canadian time and UK so Don isn't around at convenient (to us) times.

Hmm, I don't have problems running Scasm on XP

Can you post a pic of the ground polys in FSX so that I can check whether they look as I think they should?

I suppose I could try it on my W7 system but it really isn't convenient.

One shows the other does not:

Thanks Jon. The one which shows is a line whereas the other is a polygon roughly representing a line. I moved both images to the same place on the texture sheet.

It's ok, I compiled it on W7 and got the same result as you.

Edit. No I didn't, the line was untextured.

Correction :o

I hadn't realiised the the folder containing the textures was called textures

George, the overall edit/compile processes have been thououghly tested - on Win 7. Other than the vertex selection issue and the unusual situation Martin found with resize, all the problems have been due to differences between Win 7 and XP - resolution of which is doubly difficult because I don't have access to an XP system - but I am making progress.

I experienced a problem similar to your "missing bgl". Unfortunately, I was looking at an old source file, so I'm no longer sure where the problem lies. Jon has checked out his end, and now I've got to re-check mine.

I hope to "have a handle" on all these issues later today.

Don

Hmm, I get exactly the same asm file on W7.

I don't see why the line works but the polygon doesn't (on W7)

OK. Scasm was a red herring.

I was able to compile the asm file on XP using a copy of BGLC.exe dated 4th June 2002.

It still doesn't display the polygon but the line is ok.

Don,

Not sure if you have seen my compiler error report above, but I received the confirmation by another user - Horst - that this is in fact due to the usual comma-separator bug that raises its ugly head with every new tool.

I think Jon mentioned BGLC_9.exe some posts above, George.

Yes, I forgot that :o

BGLC_9 from the main ADE folder also compiles my asm file on XP

So it must be the internal call to BGLC_9 which fails.

There's been so much communication overnight (PDT) that I'm not sure where the initial issue was raised.

Yesterday, I tested George's reporte that the ADE-GP .bgl was not output. I thought I duplicated it and diagnosed that ADE was not sending the data to the compiler. I asked Jon to investigate.

Jon found no problems and I cannot duplicate the issue either (not sure now I ever did). I have confirmed that ADE is sending the data.

There has been so much discussion of this and related issues that I'm not sure there is still a problem. Forgetting about BGLC vs BGLC_9 vs SCASM (the compiler uses BGLC_9), would George please confirm whether or not the issue (i.e., missing .bgl) is still happening after a normal ADE compile.

Don

would George please confirm whether or not the issue (i.e., missing .bgl) is still happening after a normal ADE compile.

A resounding yes, no bgl is produced.

Even though I am able to manually compile the file ADE-GP.asm which was left in the ADE main folder.

Thanks. There was also some discussion earlier about the "textures" folder being in the wrong place.

The xxxxx_GP.bgl file should be beside the "textures" folder. There should also be a file named ADE-GP.bgl in your ADE beta folder with the same date-stamp as the ADE-GP.asm file. Is it there?

If it is, what is the path you gave ADE to place the compiled output?

If it's not, did you receive the successful compile confirmation message? Please send me the ADE-GP.asm file. You can e-mail it to don at stuff4fs dot com to avoid cluttering up the forum.

Don

No, I said the textures were placed in a folder textures which was created in the folder I compiled to.

The xxxxx_GP.bgl file should be beside the "textures" folder. There should also be a file named ADE-GP.bgl in your ADE beta folder with the same date-stamp as the ADE-GP.asm file. Is it there?
No, there is no xxxxx_GP.bgl anywhere on my system.

If it's not, did you receive the successful compile confirmation message?
No, I saw no messages at all.

Please send me the ADE-GP.asm file. You can e-mail it to don at stuff4fs dot com to avoid cluttering up the forum.
There is no point in sending you the asm file as I have already confirmed that it will compile using BGLC_9.exe from the main ADE folder.
