• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Aerofly FS 2 Update for VR and better controller support
JULY 27 - IPACS AEROFLY
Dear Aerofly users,

we just publish a new update for Aerofly FS 2. We mainly addressed issues with VR and added the possiblity to use the GUI with your controller only. Here is a list of changes:

  • You may now operate the cockpit with your mouse while using VR. Please experiment with it and let us know what you think.
  • In the controls menu you may now assign keys and functions for operating the GUI, this way you can avoid using the mouse while in big picture mode or in VR.
  • Fixed ADF receivers can tune all NDBs
  • Added MB339 flight director

In the next updates we are going to address further VR issues. Please note, in VR the moving map is currently not working properly. Its best to turn the map off by pressing 'M'. Also the flight infobar is experimental as well, you may turn it off by pressing 'I'.

Please also keep in mind, that if you use VR and you have set your quality settings to high, ultra or you enabled lots of clouds, you REALLY need a very fast 3D graphic card or you will notice stuttering while looking around.

Thanks Devon.

I guess I cannot watch this in my version of VR. Mine is phone based. I hoped that I could link into my computer through the USB and view Aerofly VR that way, but I havent found a way to link it.

Aerofly FS 2 VR support for Oculus SDK

Dear Aerofly users,

We just updated Aerofly FS 2. We now support the native Oculus SDK. Anybody using an Oculus Rift please try this version, it should have less jitter now. It would be nice if you could report back if you encounter any bugs.

The unfortunate accident of 2006 where a goat ...... :rotfl: (should have been coffee through the nose emoji)

It's amazing that these British pilots are so calm in their demeanor while flying through ......

Haha,
Nice video.
Landing at Grand Canyon West in 5,000 ft in a 747 would be a challenge, even with a good head wind (can winds be set in this sim?). I doubt he would have done any better at nearby KGCN but with 8,999 ft it would have at least been a sporting try. Now I'm gonna start shooting some landings at Grand Canyon West with a 40 knot headwind in a Learjet, and see if I can work my way up to the 747. :)

The canyon just southeast of the Grand Canyon West airport is used for chopper descents to "The Beach", a popular landing zone for helicopter tours, both for canyon bottom landings, and also as the jump-off point for rafting tours on the river. I landed there with Papillon Helicopters back in 2003 (prior to the goat incident), and it was well worth the $250 ticket. We were given a nice champagne brunch (even nicer that I was the only one drinking), and then allowed to roam the area for another 30 mins. I am fairly certain that in the 4 hours from my hotel to KLAS, to the canyon, and back, I would have spent much more than the cost of the flight in the casinos. Highly recommended.

Thanks for posting the video.

Cheers
Gman

The Aerofly team has been updating the sim at such a frantic rate that they are not even announcing the patches/fixes, just pushing them out like UN care packages over a devastated area. This continued all of the last weekend, and continued into today, where yet another patch chased down some lingering glitches with the beta implementation of VR, managing to fix both Vive and Oculus support.

These guys are really really trying, and I hope the community finds room to embrace both the sim and the dedication of the team behind it. I think there could be something really good being born here!

They are a very hard working team.

I was flying Sunday in AF2. Flying in AF2 is totally different then FSX/P3D. In those, you look at a false scenery, while in AF2, you are in a real world. Also, I have sort of fallen in love with the Cessna 172, lol. I was doing a sunset flight over Phoenix, and the sun was cascade over the panel, showing the paint textures and 3D parts. I look out the right window and the sun is showing all the bump mapping and stitches on the leather seats. The drone of the engine to me sounds dead on. The way she turns with the high wing CG, the ground effect on landing... Just awesome.

Then I shot touch and goes in the Learjet at Sky Harbor for a while.

Afterwards, I thought... This is so much better. It has no active sky, no weather storms, no ATC, yet its so much better. The experience, the scenery, the sky, the shadows, the airports, so far much more better. I always come away from a flight in AF2 like it had been the real thing, like I had really just flown over a certain area, which if you think about it, you slightly did as its real world scenery and terrain.

I must learn how to animate parts.. I want to get my fleet in this sim.

Great video, Gliderfan.

Yes some good flying there.
I wonder if its possible to do a touch-and-go on the Bank tower helipad in Aerofly FS2, GTA style?

(Aerofly obviously still has a long way to go to beat GTA's downtown LA detail)

There have been a flurry of updates, mostly undocumented, in the last few days, though its a good guess that they were related to small glitches in VR mode.

Also:

Update adds Genf to the Switzerland DLC.

We are working on (an) A380, it will be improved with better Autopilot and extra functionality compared to the mobile version. It will be a few more weeks until we can release it.

I did a sunset flight yesterday evening over Phoenix. The sunsets in AF2 are really awesome. It looks like that in Phoenix. Orangish sky. I still LOVE that sun ray effect with the rings. That is absolutely brilliant.

EDIT: 'did a flight over Phoenix'... (in AF2)
