• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.

FSXA Airbus A350 XWB

Absolutely amazing work! All that from just photos?

Yes, though I also used the airbus 3D view, which can in some ways be seen as one big photo...
I've never been in the aircraft though. Never even been in any wide-body aircraft in active service :oops:
Airbus' 3D cockpit (link) is somewhat usefull but I wonder if it is more than a photo (since one cannot actually move around).

BTW I noticed something odd in a typerating manual I used to get a 2D map of the cockpit. It said that one could easily convert between the Airbus types (with the obvious exception of the A300 and A310 because it doesn't feauture the Airbus cockpit layout). However I noticed (though I thought I missread it) that the A350 and A330 have been made to share one typerating, dispite the differences in actual cockpit... It is called the A330/A350 typerating, which is apparently in development.

The way I think I'm gonna make the cable of the phone (or intercom) by making a lowpoly wire (like 5 verts make a circle) and use physics to lay it in there (need to work out the details a bit) and then just apply it so it's "frozen"in there :)
I think you will have more control with a spline :)

I knew it existed but it seems to be that the A330CEO and A350 have too much differnces to actually have a CCQ.

True! :) I'm thinking it's a bit different. Like I said I'll make the cable, use physics to stow it in the compartment and then apply the physics so it stays put :)

Thanks Dave! I found the easiest way to do the cable would be with a soft body simulation. So it would be a path that would be falling into place and then bevel that path with a cable (five vert cylinder). I still have to work out some details on that though...
 
AFAIK Physics don't work for curves. you can try a path that's put kind of where the cable should be, convert it to mesh, run a cloth simulation with the ends pinned, very high stiffness and high collision distance. Then convert it back to curve and use it to guide your cable.

Yes, there're a couple of ways to do it. Thr way you say it might actually be better (gonna try and compare a bit). Paths are indeed physics accepting. I believe I got the idea from a video about "noodle modelling" ;)
