• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXA Airbus A350 XWB

haha @AerobaticsFS so true but I can somewhat understand it, though I'll have to disappoint those excited painter for the time being....

So here is one of the areas I did not like, the belly. One of the details concerns the edge that extends from the wing into the belly area:

As you can see the edges on that part are quite smooth, though they were sharp on my previous model. Now they are more like what they should actually be:

(I'm aware it is very hard to see...)

Oh, I know, really hard things!

Yeah, but I guess it's one of thise quite big details that will stick out if they are not included... Though I just today noticed the A350 scale model on the shelve above my desk doesn't have this detail...

Updates might not be that interesting now that I'm remaking a lot of parts and I keep on running into tinny problems, but I think I've got the part about right now... Took me a while though but I guess it's worth it...

Now I've got to recut the wings, therefor I'm going to re-estimate and/or research for the correct Aerofoil at the root and tip, though public information will probably only give me an estimate of the foiliage...

Paying attention to detail is tops in my book but sometimes you just have to fudge it. ;)

I'm glad you agree with me Paul. I think I've got enough reference and info to get the wing done again over time, but due to mu current time available for development it might take some time... There are actually three " aerofoils" I need to estimate, root, tip and start (even before the root). I was actually thinking of drawing them on a piece of paper, scanning them and modelling with that...

By Any chance will you be releasing a public beta or will you jump Strait into the full product

There will be no public beta I'm afraid. The beta testing will be done within the confines of a beta testing team selected a while back...

So it has been some time since I worked on it... again real life kept me busy, therefor just a little update on the whole wing-box thing. Now I think I've narrow it down now but I'm not entirely sure, suggestions are as always welcome. The main problem lay within the area between the wing's root and the part of the wing-box previously shown, a novelty on the A350 that I've seen being neglected on A350 models all across the stores, only the big "built it your self" Revell kit and the expensive Herpa die-cast models seem to have that particular detail included. However I do not want to pay the money for the die-cast model and I'm no good at making the Revell models so I'll stick with the more simplistic model I have above my desk... Enough about that though, down to business. Here you can see the wing's root in the fashion I assume it is attached to the wing-box, all the information is gathered from photography. The wing root shape took some particularly odd methods to get it right, I basically took a pencil and started drawing what I thought would be near the correct aerofoil. Personally I'm quite happy with the result, though I realize the same problems I face building Revell models torment me when drawing... I'm that clumsy...

Now onwards to some more interesting stuff which was mentioned a long while back, wing-flex. Wing-flex is obviously very noticeable both from inside the Airbus A350XWB as well as from outside of the aircraft when it is taking off or approaching. Details on the max. bending capabilities of the wings are not publically available, however Airbus has provided an image on their website in which the A350XWB is undergoing a wing-flex test which I must assume is the maximum bending capability. For now though I'm only concerned about setting up the required tools to get a "wing-flex"-animation working, not only does it require a bone structure but it also requires a custom animation tag, something I have not done before....
The basics of wingflex have temporarily been implemented for display purposes....

here's how I suppose the cargo compartments should look. These are cut through images with baked lights, which will look the same in the sim...
