• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Has anyone noticed the frequency of AVSIM being offline. Again this morning. They seem to have more issues or maintenance with their site than any other site I know. Sad, as I usually enjoy reading the threads with my morning cuppa-joe. :coffee:

AVSIM's been down (again
Yep, hope it's not another server attack.

It's far more likely to be maintenance again!. AVSIM's been down all this morning - 22 Aug 2015 in the UK. The front page as well as the forums are down.

Still down as of this evening. It seems to be the only website that experiences problems on such a regular basis.

I'm also getting this strange message
An error occurred.
Sorry, the page you are looking for is currently unavailable.
Please try again later.

If you are the system administrator of this resource then you should check the error log for details.

Faithfully yours, nginx.

Perhaps AVSIM is using a clever strategy to get members to calm down and think before they post.

New server was being installed by our volunteer IT guy giving up his vacation time on our behalf!

A bonus is that following the updates I can now access AVSIM between 0900-1000 in the UK. They previous reasons were backing-up files, ISP etc etc.

Gerry, it turns out that the 'bad behavior' was the result of having a redirect from avsim.net (the library server's IP) to avsim.com (the main page and forum server). In other words, everyone accessing AVSIM was going to the library server, then being forwarded to the main server.

Obviously, if the library server was busy doing backups, it had severe issues dealing with incoming traffic.

Then I suggest that was self-inflicted wound by AVSIM. AVSIM previously uggests that there were user problems - ISP, DNS etc - nothing to do with AVSIM!

When you pay for it... you can complain. Until then... sit down, shut up, and enjoy the free ride.

So I musn't complain because the search function no longer works?

Just make a new thread, searching is overrated. Think about all those computer help guys and such who would be unemployed if people actually knew how to use Google.

To search avsim forum in the meanwhile you can use "site:forum.avsim.net" in google after your search term, this way google will only search within that domain.

But I want to search for an existing post. If searching is overrated why to all forums I know of had s search function?
