Creating Flight Plans from Timetable Data

Thanks, will do today or tomorrow. I'll be away from my machine starting tomorrow and back late next week, so I won't be able to test after today/early tomorrow. I'll be seeing the sights too. :)

All other File Open menu items work fine. I tried renaming my AIFP.ini file and letting AIFP create a new one, but it didn't fix the error.

Sorry about that. The problem was due to the new variable I introduced to cause the previous directory to be opened was not properly initialized and would only occur the first time the variable was accessed. Since I had accessed it dozens of times previously, the issue didn't arise during my somewhat limited testing.

It should be OK now in 2.2.12(b).

That fixed the crash, thanks.

Getting closer - all the issues above have been fixed, thanks.

But the deletes don't "stick".

Try this:

1. Follow the protocol above in Post #55 through step 7.
2. Choose F-27A West Coast (second one), click Delete button.
3. Choose Fairchild F-27A West Coast 1966 and delete it. You should only have AI F-27 West Coast remaining.
4. Select the DC-3 from the drop down box.
5. Re-select the F-27 from the drop down box.
6. I have the two deleted F-27's listed, instead of the one I had chosen. Both are listed in the aircraft list if I press Continue, but not the right one (it's not even listed). This happens even if you don't re-select the F-27 - you get the wrong plane(s) in the resulting aircraft list.

I've decided to take my files with me, so I will be able to do some limited testing while I'm away from this computer.

The only improvement I can think of that would be nice (but probably impossible, programmatically) has to do with the limiting of the flight plans to 100 legs. As now, the first one limited for a given aircraft would stop at 99 legs, and deadhead to the original airport (typically that would discard days 5 and 6). The next plan that exceeds 100 legs would instead remove the early legs down to 99 legs (days 0, 1, 2, etc.). Then the program would combine the "discarded" legs of these two plans, and schedule deadhead flights between the "early" and "late" segments, and at the end. This would cut down on the total number of aircraft flying these plans, and reduce planes sitting at airports doing nothing. Dreaming, I know... :)

When I imort the file only the 737 planes are assignd to an airplane. If I split the file in two, the import assigns airplane correct for bouth aicrafttypes. I am using version 3.1.20.
Any idea why?

I assume you forgot to paste into your message the 737 return flights back from ENGM to to ENML at the end of the 12345 sequence, and on Saturday. Also the 2 787's will sit on the ground at ENGM and ESSA for 5 and 4 days a week. Otherwise it looks OK to me.

I am away from my development system and will be for the next few weeks. Whether or not you save unused aircraft in the list makes no difference to the execution of the flight plans. If the aircraft are unused, they are unused.

But they are unused because the flight plan compiler didn't add them to the list as it should?
 
Then it would appear the Timetable compiler has difficulty when there are more aircraft available to be assigned to be assigned than there are flight plans to assign them to. In any case, there's little I can do at this point. I'll take a look as soon as I can.

I am trying to adjust departure time for standard sit times on an existing flight plan, but I am having issue where AIFP is increasing flight time of short flights of ~1 hour or less duration by another one hour when using this function. The program however is calculating the flight time correctly when using adjust eta to reflect cruise speed function.

No problems with this function have previously been reported. In order to comment, I need your flight plan file set/traffic file and step-by-step instructions to duplicate the issue, i.e., what did you enter where, which fp/leg are you referring to and what do you see that you believe to be wrong.

Attached is the file set I am working on. I have set ETD preset to 41 minutes.

1. I load the flight plan txt file set
2. select all flights in the flight plan list
3. use the adjust departure times to standard sit times option.

After running it, for eg in first plan (VT-IAO) note the leg (10) VEGT-VEIM, the flight duration becomes greater than 2hrs whereas leg (11) VEIM-VEGT continues to be of correct duration.

The reason is not obvious to me at the moment. I'll investigate and get back to you ASAP.

I should also have asked what you had set for a standard sit time, but, it appears to be 41 minutes. If that's not the case, please advise.
