• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Düsseldorf Airport

that looks pretty cool.

Thanks! It's just an attempt really because I just don't know what kinda trees grow near Düsseldrf.. I mean I know how they look and I'd recognize them straight away but since I don't know the name I can't really find the right leafs :P

Another attempt at Grass this time...

Thanks for the likes guys! :D It's all a bit of trying to get it realistic, but I was quite pleased by this grass ;)

Currently remodeling the tower, hope I can learn a bit about textures... Hope I can get it right :)

Well this is just a try, it's too high poly in it's current form.. I need to figure out how many of the structural things there're because I now got 30 making a total of 33000 verts.... not good...

Anyone got any idea how much it should be?

Use a texture with an alpha channel for the lattice beams instead of modeling them. No one will notice and the polycount will be a fraction of the current one.

Good point!

Anyway, rework of the groundpoly first I guess...

am I doing this right?

Okay someone who has any experience with making groundpoly in Blender perhaps?

I use Blender for ground polys, you can judge me here on the showroom (see links in signature) ;)

what I see looks OK, but some shots in edit mode will give more conclusion.
You can PM me if you want to discuss some techniques and the workflow.

Thanks Dave! I'll send you a PM! :)

Dispite the long inactivity I hope to find time this year to restart this project... What I want to do is to try and give you people updates whenever I'm working on or have finished a building or bit of GP, accompanied with a storie, brief history or personal note.

I'm thinking I might better leave this to people who're better at scenery design... This is just lacking detail... :(

I'll probably be fixing it in the near future, add some details and such ;)

That looks better than some freeware scenery already. And as it's not your number one priority project nobody expects you to make a high end scenery.
Just keep going ;)

I guess that's true. Anyway I found quite an interesting way to make textures, here's the result...

I don't know if it's that vissible but the texture looks like this:

(And for those of you wondering, yes this would exportable to FSX, only the glass would be problematic...)

It's the tower of the city of my birth :)

That's cool to hear! For anyone that has ever been spotting on the visitors deck, this is the "tower" that sits on the deck. I used to believe Ground Control is settled there but I'm not sure anymore... Anyway there's a bigger tower ofcourse ;) but this one sits on the spottersdeck :)
