• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

Very nice progress, are you going to model a VC?
Yes it will, i have started to model the vc, but progress is slow there at the moment. The main focus now is to finish exterior models first.

Today i did a first fsx test! ;) Everything looks good, except the nose gear, think the reason is an old animated part thats cause the problem.
Progress so far, fix some bugs around here and there, texture mapping is 70% complete.

A little update!
Project have been at stand still a little while now. My ac adapter for my laptop refused to live another day, so i had to buy a new one.(shipping in Norway takes ages) But so far, I've started to animate the model and updated the engine, it didn't have the right shape. I also done a lot of other stuff to the model. Now i have start to redo the wings, they are also little bit of shape. I will post some pics later.

I was able to test my model with 2048*2048 textures, it was working perfectly. So now I have to redo the texture sheets a little bit. So it's optimized for that size. If some painters have little to do, and love to create dash8 textures, please let me know :D. Im not so good at making master textures.

That's because you use reindeer for package delivery. :p

You need the model source files to make the master textures so you can create the UVs.

Yeah! I think so to :D.
The UVs is ready, i have made those. But i ment painting the fuselage with lines and details etc.

Looks amazing, I think I remember this model being done for FS9 too back in the day, any chance to see this version also available for the distant future?

A little update!
I haven't done much to the model, butt today i have been taking a lots of pictures of a real dash 8 100. So now i finally got pictures I really needed. I will be back next year and post some updates about the project.

Happy new year everyone!

Thanks!
Yes i had one model almost done for fs9 some years ago, that model is noe scrapped.
I don't think i will make one fs9 native model, that's because i don't own a fs9 copy. And i also think most of the flightsim enthusiast now day's playing fsx and p3d. So i will focus on that platform.

Do you still have a copy of the FS9 one, I'd take it as is  J/K :D

I'm kind of disappointed to hear that, I for one was REALLY looking forward to that model. Although I know a lot of people still use FS9, I respect your decision
Maybe your model can be compatible with FS9, in any case just not a native FS9 model, but if you need an FS9 tester, I won't mind seeing if she works for FS9 (sorry, I'm just a big Dash 8 fan :p)

Regardless good luck with it, I'll still be looking out for updates to see how she progresses

Happy New Year in advance :)

FSX models can't be used in FS9, but they can be converted back into FS9 models from the source file. You can only use 1024 px textures in FS9 and the animation and visibility tagging method in GMax is different (as well as different syntax for the animation code), but it's doable in theory.
The most important thing is finding anyone except the original author who is willing and able to try it out.
