• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Easy steps to remove static aircraft models from payware scenery

Hey guys,

Will start by saying I'm not a developer. Meaning my knowledge about these kind of things is limited to say the least.

Reason I'm in here is I have a number of payware airports for MSFS with static aircraft models as part of the scenery and no option for me as a customer to remove these. Which is a real pain when doing all flying online on Vatsim. Meaning these static aircraft models interfere with online aircraft models, occupy gates etc.

In the past when I was using X-Plane, I had the same problem with many airports but found a great tool (I think it was called WED - World Editor IIRC) which I learned to use to add exclusion zones over the static aircraft models.

Now in MSFS, I figured it might be a similar way to get rid of these models. So far, I've learned one option seems to be switching to Dev Mode, download the latest SDK and then use Exclusion Rectangles. I've watched a couple of YouTube videos but I'm still struggling exactly what steps are required to accomplish what I'm looking for.

With this said, is there anyone in here who knows if there is a very basic and simple step-by-step tutorial I could follow to get rid of these static aircraft models?

Many thanks in advance for your help!

Wow, so you're in here too 😉

Thanks so much my friend, can't wait to give it another try and now with help by following this tutorial you so kindly put together 👍

For anyone else in here with the same problem, I'm happy to report following the tutorial allowed me to finally get rid of the static models.

Do remember to pay attention to the suggestion in the tutorial to delete scenery index cache and Content.xml. Before doing this, the static aircraft remained even when having been excluded correctly.

I'm now trying to remove the static aircraft models at Orbx LOWI but this airport seems tricky (and not only when it comes to the circling approach into rwy 08 😉)

This is what it looks like where you can see how none of the static aircraft models have their own names when using the Debug feature with 'Display name' ticked as explained in the video tutorial above. Does this means this is an example where the static aircraft models can't be removed using an exclusion rectangle?

Here's another example

Sometimes developers will group multiple models and join them in a 3d modelling program to make one giant model that only needs to be placed once.

It's possible that's happening here.

If it is one giant model then I guess you will need a giant exclusion which means everything else inside it will disppear too. So maybe not in this case?

But there might be another explanation. It seems a bit inflexible to me.

Like you say, of course I want to keep the other objects.

Too bad but not much else to do then I guess.

OK I know it's an old thread....
I'm trying to remove some static gliders from a local airport TEMORA, NSW I've tried the exclusion rectangle for - All object, Sim Objects and Library objects, but the static gliders are still there!!!
I was hoping the static plane label would help but the option shown in Federico Pinotti's video is no longer available in the latest SDK.
Can anyone assist/ any ideas/ help!!!!
Thanks.

Debug Model LODs is still available, has been moved to the Debug menu rather that the Options one

Is this one the scene you are trying to remove the gliders from?

Thanks for that!
Yes, that's the scenery - I now seem to have two windsocks close to each other and multiple gliders to be removed.

With the LOD examination I found the gliders were part of "Library1V14".
I've cheated and removed this Library from the Community Folder - Good news, problem solved!!! The Gliders have gone.
Bad news, the double wind sock still remains. (I'll go back in and see if a can locate a library connection).

There's no LOD information shown for the two windsox - Bumma.
The Windsocks look like they are default ones, and exclusionrectangle with excludeWindsockObjects or/and excludeSimobjects should do the trick

Tried the exclusion rectangle on the windsox using "Exclude windsocks" - yes! one of the windsock disappeared.
Thanks for the help.

I now have another issue - trying to remove a rogue static Tiger Moth aircraft model- checking the LOD it comes up as "UK2-moth-A" when I look in Objects this appears to come from "UK2000scenery-airport-commonlibrary" I can't find this folder anywhere in my Community Folder????? Found it in the Official Folder - renamed it and rebooted. Nada !!! the static model is still there!
Back to the drawing board.
