• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FS2020 seems to be a game, but not simulator

The only thing I want - and preferably in P3D - is to get of the bloody awful 8-bit/256 colours restriction. It is giving me no end of stick with the latest generation of Nvidia GTX2000-series GPUs running 4K monitors. Really, really bad reproduction of any form of gradient.

Although I understand NVidia drivers can be problematic, I stumbled across this today; might this apply to your issue ? :scratchch

Well my view is and really really really hope I am wrong but this wont be for the likes of us. There will be add ons to purchase but only from MS themselves. It is the way of games and apps now. It is shame MS closed down the studio and didn't keep it going particularly as they are not short of a bob or too. However If this right hopefully it might get more people interested in real flight sims and in turn will purchase P3D or X Plane. Micorosft is business and as we have seen they are so large they don't need to care about customers as they don't have too only game in town for most businesses out there, so if it makes money they will do it if it doesn't they will pull the plug.

Should have studied harder at school then I could have been MS CEO and let me tell you if that had been the case FS2020 would be epic

Windows 10. A mature product with amazing features and damn good stability. I see no way that they would put any effort into supporting previous old windows OS.

Azure. Windows 10. Flight simulator. All magic to my ears

The first look of this simulator is great, they say they emphasize on the word "simulator", but...
I personally feel like it is for gamers, but not simmers.

I can't understand what would make you feel as if this looks like a game rather than a simulator. The realism and graphics alone come closer to simulating actual flight and flight conditions. Then throw in the much-touted flight models of the A/C, and to me, this is a new level of "simulation" never before experienced.

Months passed, now we have a clearer idea. What I found is that this picture implies that I have to create my own airport, probably city too, even it is the top 15 busiest airports in the world.

You realise those are just the hand modelled airports, it includes 37 thousand airports out of the box, as per their website...

Not sure if I understand. These appear to be enhanced airports but as far as I know then many other airports will be in the base (default, stock) files. The airport you want may not be to your liking so you may want to enhance it. Also I think we can expect many scenery developer to be porting their addon-airports to FS2020

Most probably that will happen..

On reading this referenced post, I understand that not only is the SDK not ready, but the sim itself is not ready. Not for PMDG. Perhaps not for any 'study level' aircraft. The developer is optimistic, but it is not there yet.
Agree. Aside from that, I hope Microsoft can charge less on addon developers, so that the whole community is more engaged to help improve the simulator.

True. But he is impressed by the way the developers are handling it and by the response from them. Sounds very promising for the coming months and years!

In my limited experience the developers are excellent :)

no doubt MS2020 appears to represent the world like nothing else before, a spectacular world simulator!
unfortunately it doesn't come across as tailored or designated flight simulator,

from the first generation of flight simulator everything was built around a true flight dynamic model,
flight model doesn't seem to be the center of attention in MS2020 rather loosely retrofitted as "added value" feature,

i thought i made it pretty clear, you just figured it out?
joking aside to each his own Ed, at this point in time i tend to agree with thread's topic

The sim is more capable than FSX/P3D. But default aircraft are default aircraft - which is why there's 3rd party developers that are already jumping ship.
