• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSXPlanner public beta

Hi,

If you are speaking of the default airports, it is ok. But the user's airports go to another folder, normally ADD ON\Scenery.

Kind regards,

José

Yes that is correct. But I figure that one would need help finding a default airport as there are many folder of them. But most likely as they installed the add on airports they know where they are.

But perhaps a note saying that the functionality is intended to help users find default airports is needed.

just downloaded the newer version and see attached of the errors that i now get.

Thanks for the text file.

The warning #C1102 errors don't affect anything. I have read that there is a bug in the bglcomp.exe file which produces them sometimes, even if your have a valid object within the airport test radius. They are not displayed by default in the new build. (But you can display them if you like).

The other error is an invalid airline code. You just have to enter one that is four characters or less. It appears that you are just missing a comma. That is then causing that taxiway parking spot not to be created, leading to the error where it says it can't find Parking Spot #137.

Hope that helps. :)

it works now thanks

only one small problem. there are no jetways to the gates that i changed. would that be because of the assignment of parking instead of gate? they right now are type=parking. i left it like that because the default on had all of the correct numbers and gate names. so i didnt change it to type gate

thanks again

glad you got it all working.

as for the missing jetways, it's probably because i haven't implemented jetways in the app yet. :)

wondering how u would impliment the jetways into the program. would u then be able to say add a jetway to a gate? and also are the gates with parking codes gonna be color coded later on to make it easier to tell what airlines are parking where?

I'm not sure exactly how the gates will be incorporated into the app yet.

I hadn't thought about color coding parking spots based on which airliners park there. It's an interesting idea which I'll have to think more about.

I'm also very curious about the use of jetways. From what I understand, these arn't fixed like they were in FS9. The can be removed and added. Did you plan on incorporating this. Ie when you add a gate, also have the option to add a jetway?

Does anybody know if Jons' ADE is going down this path?

Cheers,
Kael

Yes, the next release (hopefully tonight) of FSX Planner will incorporate Jetways. They are independant of the gate, allowing you to add them whereever you like and associate they with any gate you like.

sweet will be looking foward to it.

also will this mod in the end be able to handel and open bgl area files? the ones that have mode than one airport in them?

Yes. That feature will be supported. It should be coming fairly soon as we now have support for almost all the airport elements. We can see the light at the end of the tunnel!

Colors

Hi,

I appreciate your work in FSX Planner (although I disagree with this name, because some tools have adopted similars names to flight planning).

Well, about the colors on the screen, in think you could use colors with more contrast. Also, the coordinates at the left side and bottom could become more visible in the pure black color over a white background.

Thanks for your attention.

Kind regards,

José

Another name we were thinking of was FSX Architect. What do people think of that one?

The colors used for the various surfaces can be modified under the preferences dialog (File -> Preferences). We will be adding more color options to that dialog soon. Then you'll be able to modify the colors used for the lat/lon coordinates to whatever you like.

I think that could be confusing since there is already a FS Architect and I suspect that Douglas Pouk (it's author) might not be too happy :)

Name

Hi,

I think Jon is right about FSX Architect's name.

QUOTE]

People can suggest names, if you ask. I would suggest:

FSXCAD

because in brief that is what the tool is intended to create.

Thanks for your attention,

José

I would most strongly recommed against anything with CAD in the name.

It will be confused with AFCAD and people will expect it to work the same. They will make the same errors / assumptions in their airport layouts and configurations and expect you to fix their self-created problems.

I think you need the word Airport in the title - FLAP - FSX Layout & Airports Planner

No groans please :D
