• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

FSX GE View: Google Earth viewer for FSX thru P3D v3

it is possible to do inflight in fsx ? meaning install 3d google earth area on fsx and fly with any aircraft?
No it's not possible to install GE scenery in FSX
is it possible to install it on P3D v4?
[meaning install 3d google earth area on fsx p3d and fly with any aircraft?]
YEP use HttpX64.dll instead
You encourage flyer to purchase and install P3D, only to learn the software uses the same interface in both simulators.

I also misunderstood flyer's questions and simbiosi's answers, at first. I confused "do you install Google Earth scenery into the sim?", and "does GE VIEW work with FSX and P3D v4?"

Here's the bottom line:

- GE VIEW never installs or loads Google Earth (GE) imagery to the users hard drive nor into the sim, and the sim isn't aware that GE is running simultaneously. This is true for all sims, FSX thru P3D v4. GE VIEW utilizes the HttpX module (full duplex token variable communication via http protocol) to read the aircraft's orientation A:Vars and then manipulate, or aim, earth imagery displayed by the Google Earth desktop client application which is open in a separate window from the flight sim. GE imagery continuously streams into GE desktop client via the users internet connection.

- GE VIEW works with FSX and P3D sims. FSX thru P3D v3 are 32 bit sims and the HttpX.dll module is used for those. P3D v4 is 64 bit, so for that sim, HttpX64.dll must be used.

I've mentioned before that HttpX is the core technology that may be of interest and use to sim developers. GE VIEW is just the first app we cobbled together that uses HttpX.

HttpX does not work with FS9 nor X-Plane

Take a look at Marcin Lizers related effort, WebSimconnect, to see some other possibilities of flight sim-web interaction.

GEVIEW 2022
In 2019 may friend and I got GEView running on his system *(1)
I just upgraded my simulator over the last six months, similar to the hardware he was using. Fortunately this old guy has four screens running and it is a great tool.
But getting GEView running would be a big bonus --- if it still works? I do not see any current activity :( ? Have there been any blocks put on it's operation...
(I know there is tidal rush to MS2020, BTW it requires a lot more system resources than we used in 2019.)

I am going to give it another go, hoping it is still viable.

(*1) My friend passed away and it had been a learning curve to move ahead.
