• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

how to remove objects from a .bgl

What i like to do Is working with the scenery editor in the Sim (adding or resizing exlusionrectangles) save your work there and exit the Sim
Then drag the xml of the project over the fspackagetool, this Will launch an istance of the Sim in console Window compiling your scenery and updating the content of the "packages" folder
It Will complain about lacking of marketplace data, don't worry, as long as the result Is only 1 failed you are good to go
Now you can Copy the "new" package in your community and start the Sim, you Will see the new exlcusionrectangle in action
Hope that helps

I opened the xml project and added a third exc rectangle on the ocean coast where a few handcrafted buildings were, exited the sim and drag the new .xml over the .exe, recreated the .bgl, added the new scenery pack into community folder. however, while trying to run the sim back again it created an builduperror log file in the main sim folder, which reported the marketplace data failed, and the whole sim was forced for an entire reinstall again. I don’t understand why the sim messes up with some missing marketplace data for a home made kind of scenery pack.

Those marketplace data missing won't affect the compilation of the package, although throwing error in the compiler
You can of course get rid of those error by fillig all the marketplace information in the scenery editor withing the Sim, be advice, there are a LOT of information to write down and screenshot to add...not really worth the time!

Anyway, scenery compilation error should't touch you msfs installation (and i had TONS of compilation errors pretty much every day!)
Neither within the scenery editor nor using the fspackagetool, you should open a ticket on zendesk because that's really weird

yes, very weird it is. i believe that sdk and all related tools dont like me at all. it’s costed me two full reinstalls in a week since i got my hands on it, but that miami area exclude was really worth it, the scenery pack works seamlessly eliminating the fake bad-looking handcrafted buildings.

thanks again, mate.

I’m now considering a similar exclude for the area around KLGB Long Beach Airport, that with the presence of low quality buildings spoil the scenery’s transmission into a much better looking photogrammetry. The northern exclude area looks doable yet the southern part is in a triangular shape, whereby I haven’t a clue how to create an exclude. perhaps a polygon.
