• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

P3D v3 How? Wholesale adding multiple 3D object on the scenery by XML or TXT file

Hi, I need a help, what software's I can use to insert 3d objects into the scenery. The main idea is to insert in P3D 20 3d objects with different textures on each one. Which means it will be one the same 3d object times 20 with a different texture on each one.

Also in some cases, the textures may be same on few object i.e texture number 5 will be on 4 objects. I can create textures for each object separately, and have for example 3 dds files 1024x1024 which will contain textures. Next, the 3d object and texture I need to place somehow in P3D scenery using some kind of text or XML file with coordinate and convert it to .bgl files.

I have 3D objects and day textures already done.

Hi,

In FS a model references a fixed there. So if you want to use a different texture you'll need to make a copy of the model (with a new guid) that references the new texture.

All there models can be placed in one library BGL file.

After that you have the placement. Either you write the xml for bglcomp by hand or you can use a placement tool like instant scenery, whisplacer or ADE (if it's part of an airport).

Ok, but can I wholesale adding this 3D objects?
And can you write a good step-by-step procedure?

1. Create 3D object into 3D program and make texture in Photoshop
2. Generate *.dea object
...?

You said you already had the 3D object, but do you mean you never exported any to FS?

What tools are you using?

If you are using 3DS Max you can use the gamepack from the SDK to export the objects to MDL files directly.

Check the SDK documentation for more details on how to use the gamepack.
