Hello:

After I installed a few weeks ago with my new PC Windows 10. I had issued with ADE9 with complied failure and now fixed almost 2 weeks ago. So, I did not use ADE9 for a while. I was working on ADE9 and I noticed some missing thumbnail no image Warehouse aircraft props. I knew it was already full the last old PC with all images thumbnails. there. and now, it doesn't work. I cannot understand how it works with LOM setting thingy. I don't get it. It does not make sense. How do I fix? Do I missing file folder thumbnail somewhere or what? How? Please help.

Thanks,

Stuart

Yes, I did yesterday. It doesn't work. It does not make sense. What should I do with LOM? I tried and won't work.

Stuart

Yes maybe Windows 10 is changed. I try and try and try I don't understand. Not enough instructions. Do I have to copy with thumbnail.zip or extract the zip first before copy to the folder MSFS folder? When I open ADE9 and LOM then what? I open and not find a thing file for thumbnail.zip or folder it does not work. I don't get it.

Stuart

I got your manual guide it is long step by step. I'll try to do it today. Hmm, where do I get ADE Environment Checker Application?

Hi Stuart, Don't worry about the ADE Environment Checker. You don't need it. Unzip the big thumbnail pack. Now copy it into Your Drive:\MSFS\FS Design Tools\Airport Design Editor 178\FS9\Thumbs. Once you have done that open the LOM and select an object. If ADE finds a thumbnail that matches it will display it.

Ed

Ed,

I did the same thing but what LOM selects at "object"? Where is object that?

After installing thumbnail.fs9 (unzip) and open Library object I can see some thumbnail with the same library object name some images and some don't image. What is the problem coming from? Generics is fine all images full. Some don't full a few show up. What is the cause? I don't understand. I don't have ADE 178. I just installed 175 last time Scruffyduck told me so when I got new Windows 10 need to get 175. What am I missing 178? Is that what I have been missing thumbnail because of 175 without 178 for all thumbnail isn't?

Stuart

Stuart, The object data that the LOM is reading is in Flight Simulator 9/Scenery/Generic/scenery/bridges.bgl, Generic.bgl, and Landmark.bgl. Using ADE 175 is not the problem with seeing thumbnail images in the LOM. It's all about what's in your Thumbs folder. In your Thumbs folder you should have at least 3 folders to cover the default items. Bridges, Generic, and Landmark. Check to see if those folders are in your Thumbs folder. If they are then ADE will match them to the object you have selected by the guid and name of the object. If you are missing a thumbnail image in the LOM when you select an object it's because ADE can't find a matching image file in the Thumbs folder. This could be because you have added object libraries to the LOM without placing thumbnail images in the Thumbs folder.

Ed

Whoa, no bridges.bgl is the folder. I see for years. Generics.bgl, Landmark.bgl and vehicles.bgl. It may be confused thumbnail FS9 couldn't find bridges.bgl it may loosen images right? Where do I get bridges, bgl? I was thinking FS9update download I may forgot. Correct?

Stuart

ADE will only display a thumbnail if it can find it in the thumbs folder. Thumbnails are entirely separate from the object information. You can still place objects without thumbnails if they are in the Library Object Manager. The LOM stores data about library objects so that ADE can place them. If you find an object without a thumbnail it means that there is not one in the thumbnail folder that has the same guid as the object. I thought that the FS9 Big Thumbnail pack contained a wide range of thumbnails including those for third party library object bgl files. If you have installed the pack correctly but still don't see the thumbnail for a specific object then one has not been created for it.

Perhaps it would help if you gave some examples of objects missing thumbnails?

Warehouse_commerical_Prop.bgl few thumbnail mostly missing no shown. Before Windows 7 was in a full shown images. Also, warehouse_airport_vechiles.bgl was few images and mostly missing same thing. Warehouse_general_avioation.bgl is the same thing.

I don't understand what is the cause.

Ken said copy bigthumbnail_FS9 to the folder of MSFS. I did the process and then what next? What should I do set up or press click on LOM menu where should I start at? Ed mentions there are three folders bridges, landmark and generics. I have no bridges.bg;l where did ED get from bridges.bgl coming from? I have generics, landmark, and vehicles.bgls. After I installed bigthumbnailfs9 and I see there more folders pops up like examples: AB_buildings.bgl, AB_Signs.bgl, vechiles.bgl, many more go on I cannot counts look like 192 folders and also tons of jpg thumbnail images under folders of 192 folders. Is that correct?

General_aviation_001.bgl is shown one plane has an image. I don't understand why can't general_avaition.bgl don't get a full of images in the folder or LOM not reading or what system cause? Is Windows 10 blocks permissions?

Thanks,

Stuart

As stated above, the LOM will only display images for objects that have a bitmap present in the specified thumbnails folder, and include the GUID in the name of the bitmap. If that is not true, they will not display. While the big thumbnail pack will cover many common library objects, it does not cover them all. If you must have a thumbnail for every object, place the object somewhere in FS and then use the Capture New Thumbnail button to create one for that object.

PS. Bridges.bgl should be found in the FS/Scenery/Generic/scenery folder. This is added by the FS9.1 update, I believe?

You can add files to the LOM by using the Add File button.

I checked scenery/generic/scenery yes I found 3 file names are already including. Done with FS91update recently when I installed on the same day.

OK, why the Earth computer system with Windows 10? Mine was an old PC with Win 7. I had all the image thumbnails before I have seen hundreds of times using the name of objects many times. so I select the name of objects were missing images. I know something is WRONG with the stupid Windows 10 system. Something is not right. All my FS2004 folders and installed everything copied from old to new PC that what I have EVERYTHING in orders. I don't understand why the system did not pick it up images because Windows 10 has to do with this something wrong path or something system blocks for permissions somehow different path to reading images bitmaps or something I can't figure it out it is can of worms in the system. Crazy. Isn't?

Thanks,

Stuart

In your Windows 10 installation, where have you installed FSX/FS2004 and where have you installed ADE?

BINGO!! I investigated My old backup Saved file MSFS from old PC. I look compare my current PC. I found it not the same bytes and date different. Look at the Thumbnail.idx current bytes is 8,646. My old was 225,574 bytes. That's look like huge thumbnail SAVED! There is a PROBLEM! Why the Windows 10 saved less bytes come from? I will copy to current to see what will result right now. I'll back up current filename. I'll let you know. Jeez...
