• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hi,

I think there are some payware addons that include models made with sketchup.

No, the license of google earth does not allow you to use their imagery in an addon that you distribute (payware of freeware). Same for the other image services.

hello arno, thanks for your answer, so , how we made photoreal if image service does not allow to use their imagery ?

If you want to sell photo sceneries, you would in general need to buy a licence from a company which provides satellite imagery for said location.

Hi,

Not only if you want to sell the photo scenery, even if you want to distribute it as freeware. But to use imagery in your addon you would need to buy a license in most cases. For the US there is data available you can use for free.

Hi,

But nothing prevents you from using this satellite material for yourself.
I have a whole bunch of nice screenshots of photoreal terrain with mesh and FSX scenery objects but cannot upload it for others to download (only the screenshots) except when it is in the USofA (the lucky ones in this case).
But perhaps there is a government site in Poland that has satellite imagery of its own or has a licence to distribute it freely, in which case there may be a chance to put it to use on the internet (like it is for instance the case of imagery for certain regions of Spain).
