• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Move an airport ?

Hi Guys,
I have created an airport from scratch (OMLW) thanks to Google Earth and ADE that is a really friendly tool...
Until I had no scenery in the background, it was fine and I used to fly from and to there :)
I recently invested in a photorealistic scenery and I discovered that my airport is not aligned (311 degrees and 146.5 meters).

I have modified the Airport center :stirthepo, thinking that all objects will be moved, but there is no change.
How is it possible to proceed easily ?
I also have a slight variation in azimuth and an adjustment of 0.5 degree would give a perfect match.
Finally, I have adjusted the altitude of the airport (+10 meters) to get rid of the sand, but again no change noticed.

Thanks if someone can help
Cheers

Hi and welcome. You are right that moving the reference point will not move the airport. ADE can move airports and rotate them. For this you need access to the ProKey: http://www.scruffyduck.org/the-prokey/4584110818 Although this is payware there is a 15 day trial which should be long enough for you to move the airport as you wish. Once the ProKey is downloaded and installed you will get some new menu entries

Thanks for purchasing the license. We process licenses manually and try to do that as soon as we get confirmation that payment has been received. However please allow up to 48 hours for receipt. If you don't get anything by then please let me know

Not to discourage sales of ADE Prokeys (sorry, Jon ) but you can also just manually realign (move) all the airfield elements to align them. Even using the ADE "Move" will probably not align things like runways, taxiways, and aprons correctly unless the FSX developers got the data and their spatial relationships exactly right... you may still find you'll have to do some tweaking... (and that's all part of the fun!)

The elevation issue may also require adjustment or addition of an airport background flatten.

By the way, investing in Prokey for ADE is inexpensive for what it provides and is a very worthwhile investment!! :D

Thanks Ian :) I certainly agree that the move airport function does not do the entire job and that tweaking is needed, The point on elevations is well made!
