• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

Problem creating airport on rough land

use the rectangle tool for the terain, with that, you can add a slope or somethink like pumps/hills as well.
We put one below the runway to make it more realistic and we have a 0.8° angle on the runway.
 
Hi, I have a problem with a sloped runway. It has a sharp uneven surface in the middle which doesn't show up unless the package is built and imported into the game. When AI plane takes off, it bounces of because of that. How can I make a sloped runway completely smooth?

did you use the flatten option for the whole airport area? If yes, dont do this.

If not, select a rectangle and place it right below the runway and adjust the altitude of the runway, with the teraforming option.

Yes, I did flatten the area with a polygon object. Thank you for the advice.
 
I cheate, I create or replace an airport, place a very small runway, it's got to be invisible, move the small runway into a clump of trees, move the runway start points to the end of where the actual grass runway should be and bingo, you have an invisble runway which can be built on any terrain as long as it's grass.

Follow up: It kinda worked. I had to place multiple rectangles to make it seamless.. anyways, AI pilot still struggles to takeoff on a sloped runway. I guess it's just a bad AI logic.

I am also fixing a small grass airfield, that is really badly represented by default.
The main problem is that the whole surface area is full with actual hills, while in reality it's completely flat. Bad default mesh, I guess.
In the editor I placed a big polygon over the whole area to flatten it, which works well. Until I build the package and load it into the sim.
Then the terraforming is simply not there, also all the other (object and vegetation) exclusions are not working either. Everything else, all the placed custom objects are shown, but the polygons are not working.
As if the polygons are not included in the scenery when I build it.
Any ideas what am I doing wrong here?

Well.. it may be a compiling problem exporting a wrong/bugged file.
Try increasing the priority/preference number of the polygon to see if it works

Just wanted to write an update, when I saw your reply.
The solution was in fact that all my polygons were at priority 0. After I gave them priority 1 to 4, all the polygons are built in the scenery correctly. Also, I ticked the box "flatten" at the airport properties, but I don't know if it did anything in fact.
