• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

(-SOLVED-) How can i convert p3dv4 to xplane 11

X-Plane uses DDS textures with a different origin, so you need to make sure you flip them. Did you do that?

MCX can only save the DDS textures the way FS/P3D expects them at the moment. What you could do is use another format like PNG for X-Plane. Or else you need to flip them in an external painting tool, can be any that support DDS.

Hello,

when I do the covert (for an terminal for example) the object is splitted in multiple objects. Is there a way (trick) to bring them easy back together?

Best regards,
Holger

Hi Holger,

That is because X-Plane only allows one material per object. So if the object uses multiple materials, they have to be split into multiple objects. You could try to use the drawcall minimizer to reduce the number of materials used before exporting to X-Plane.

Hi I think I have the same problem as Cherry 89. I have been trying to convert my scenery to XP11 using ModelConverterX. I do the following:
1- Wizards > Scene builder wizard > Add Scenery File and I select all the scenery files included in my scenery folder.
2- I hit Generate Scene
3- Export Scenery (in a new folder)

For the textures, I use XnConvert. I start with Add Files and I select all the textures from my texture folder. THEN Action > Image > Mirror. And then I select format PNG to send all those files in my new objects folder.

But When I want to use it in WED, the objects are not covered by the textures.

What am I doing wrong?

Thanks a lot for your help.

Pierre

Hi,

You would have to convert the textures to png in MCX as well. Else the obj file you export references the wrong format

Hi,
If I understand well, I must do what have done so far PLUS converting the textures to png with MCX. I had a quick look at that but I cannot see how to do it.

In the material editor you can convert the textures to a different format. That will make sure the model references the right format.

Hi everyone,
I have done a conversion of my ZGGG scenery for XP11. Everything went perfect. Now on WED I try to have the taxilines appear but I cannot. I do not understand because I do have a converted object which is all the taxilines. I add it to my scenery but it does not show on WED nor when I load my scenery. Yet with overlay editor I can see it. Do you know what I can do to change that?

Hi,

MCX will have exported the taxiway lines as 3D object, but not as an overlay or something else. That is probably why WED does not show it.

I see. Is there any possibility to make the taxi lines as an overlay?

Not at the moment. I have never studied the overlays in detail to see if it would be possible to export them to as well.
