• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Textures cannot be exported

Hi, when I export a 3D model from Blender, the 3D model exports but not the textures. I don't know what to do.
Thanks

Without the project, it just is a guessing game. Make a small version of this error into a project, zip it, put it in the cloud and give us a link so we can troubleshoot it. The project needs to have the relevant textures, models, placements, etc... (not necessarily your entire project)

Hi Anto,
You might try this structure, so that the texture folder is common to all of your modellibs. In blender, set ..\texture in the settings. (I got this organisation from one of Mamu's tutorial)

├───lftch-modellibs
│ ├───mybluehangar
│ ├───mypinkhangar
│ ├───myotherhangarthatsoudnotbepink
│ └───texture
└───scenery

then, in the Inspector :
Asset dir : PackageSources\Scenery\airport-lftch-lftch-tichalet\lftch-modellibs\
Output dir : Scenery\airport-lftch-lftch-tichalet\lftch-modellibs\

In Blender, the export folder should looks like :
//../../../../../dev_msfs2024/tichalet/tichalet/PackageSources/Scenery/airport-lftch-lftch-tichalet/lftch-modellibs/tichalet/

Also, the console logs might give you some clues ...

Hope it helps

Hello, thank you for your help, but this doesn't work.
Thank you.

And I'm sending you the project via Modsfire because the file was too large.
Thank you.

Yes, be aware there are ads. If you can, for example with an ad blocker, it's advisable to open it or remove the ads.

Look at this image; when the young man is there, he says he can't find the modelib. It surely comes from there.

Hi anto:

One of your best qualified would-be helpers with your Blender project is the FSDEV moderator you were thus far not cooperating with. :redflag:

I recommend linking a ZIP of the MSFS Blender project requested to a reply in this thread via MediaFire, OneDrive, Google Drive, DropBox etc.

All the above download web hosts I cited above will offer you free storage space and an optional paid expansion, but otherwise should not exploit visitors.

ModsFile may be attempting to "push" an 'Opera' installer that loads a "click-bait" button on screen via unauthorized use of browser hijacking.

The website administrator may not even know the website has been compromised, so it may not be anything more than a recent "Hack".

I have seen this on various websites; but if the web site host is a willing participant in an 'exploit' scheme, they should be blocked from FSDEV, IMHO.

FYI: Anyone that wants to install Opera can do so directly at:

https://www.opera.com/download

Click that link above and you will see that Opera themselves is not attempting to load a "click-bait" button on screen.

Rhumbaflappy (aka "Dick") is properly- and reasonably- attempting to prevent FSDEV users from downloading an exploit.

NOTE: I use MediaFire, and scruffyduck (Jon Masterson - author of ADE) does also, with no reports of nag email or exploits; please help us to help you.

PS: Please tell us which numeric version of Blender- and Asobo's own MSFS Blender Exporter from the SDK- you are attempting to use in the example you cited above.

Hi Anto:

I see now that you have attached a *.blend file in your post above:

https://www.fsdeveloper.com/forum/threads/textures-cannot-be-exported.460807/post-939706

If I open that file in Blender 3.6 it will import, but it has significant issues with precision in its 3D modeling geometry.

IMHO, those issues should be resolved before even attempting to map texture Materials onto that 3D model.

Rather than building the 3D model from loose Faces and Edges, modify a default solid "Cube" into a Hangar outline shape.

Then work on hollowing out the inside of the Hangar, and add the door supports later on.

Hello,
The 3D model was indeed created using a cube.

I'm using Blender 3.6 and the multi-exporter GLTF 2.0.
I'm sending you a link to the scene project via Google Drive:
I hope this is helpful enough. Thank you very much for your help.

Hi again:

Are you intending to animate anything on the LFEH Hangar, or are you attempting to implement both exterior and interior models for it ?

If so, are you aware that "multi-exporter GLTF 2.0" Blender Exporter is distinct from Asobo's own MSFS Exporter found in MSFS 2020 SDK ?

PS: I believe you should know that at FSDEV, posted links to user file download web sites should allow anonymous downloads.

The Google drive link you posted above requires a login.

Personally, I do not "login" to Google drive for anything / anyone.

Anonymously download-able links may enable more informed replies to your thread of inquiry, by helpful FSDEV Blender users.

Feel free to post a anonymously download-able link to your project; I believe that may better "help us to help you". ;)

PS: Why does that LFEH metal support pylon with a light over the Fuel station make me so nervous (reminds me of a Mythbusters episode  )

Do not fuel up except in clear skies. ;)

Oops... almost forgot: lightning can travel from storm sources up to 10 miles even in clear skies.

(I think this calls for a special visual effect to be triggered when there is bad weather within 10 miles of LFEH. :stirthepo )

LFEH-avitionblues.zip I reworked the folder structure and the PackageDefinitions. The sim couldn't find the textures. I don't think you are using the correct Asobo exporter (it's in the SDK)

hello No, I don't want to animate the hangar, just put it in the scene.

I'm going to post a new download link for the project.

And now that you've mentioned it, it's true that the lamppost is stressing me out.
Here's the download link:
Goodbye and thank you very much.

Just 'thinking' about having to 3D model that complex metal support pylon stressed me out. :)

BTW: Apparently the linked download is one of your liveries, but not the airport project itself.

PS: I had to use Google Translate (which is very good at "conversational" language translation) ...to read your ReadMe file.

Oh dear, I sent you the wrong file.
Okay, that's better, but actually, when I export with a single color like just red, it exports. However, as soon as I export a texture from an image, it doesn't work anymore.
Thanks
