• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS20 Why ?

Scenery developers are after terminal interiors!
Why ?
all screenshots on every websites are about the interior!
like who cares ? show me some ground textures, show me some apron details, show me some special vehicles or some nice ramp agents jumping around!

I know it's nice to have some interiors for hangers or maybe the very transparent terminal in the middle of the apron, but why the entire thing?

personally, I see the interiors as a "nice to have" rather than a "must have"....so if these developers would include a way to get rid of the extra mesh and textures to improve some performance, that would be great.

Building the interior for an intl. Is crazy. But if you have a smal regional airfield the atmosphere of the area is way increasing if you have open hangars too. And in real live they are not empty. So we want to build a stunning and real airport. That is why it is not only the ground texture that needs love. :)

This hobby can get to be a lot like model railroading. Some enthusiasts collect airport scenery and want it as detailed as possible. Some collect airplane liveries. For developers, this provides a market.

If I've learnt one thing in 16 years of developing for flight simulator it is that different people expect different things from their simulation.

Good model LOD development should remove the problem of interiors affecting performance.

1 - I fully agree with you @RedCool. One very important thing you first need to understand is already mentioned at the end of my contributions in this thread.
In short: The "MSFS2020" eco-system is not about a "100% pure flight-simulation" any more...
It is silently trans-formed into a "Microsoft Hololens / Virtual 3D World / Google 3D Earth / MetaVerse(tm)" building package".

For a more in-depth analysis on this matter, read this thread:

so if these developers would include a way to get rid of the extra mesh and textures to improve some performance, that would be great.
2 - These are a different / new generation of developers (aka virtual world builders), interested in more then 100% flight-simulation alone.
So for that generation it is logical to model the entire real-world INTO the new MSFS2020 world (not "100% flight') simulator.

I hope this camera_viewpoint helps you to understand the why behind the terminals interiors.
