• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

Hello,
I have a problem with elevations in the airport I'm developing. It's an airfield that is not included by default, so I have to make it from scratch.
As it's in the middle of the countryside, there are little elevation variations and when I try to place the runway with Instant Scenery it flickers unless I put it like floating 20cm over the ground.
But that is a problem because I would need to make the whole thing floating. So my question is how can I make the airport and surrounding elevations uniformly, so like a square surrounding of 2km is everywhere 50m high.
Thank you in advance!
Kind Regards.

Have you done vector scenery before?
What you need is a "flatten" polygon that has the exact same height as your airfield.

I don't know exactly how Global Mapper works. Did it just flatten the height map?
That won't work as there will be some variation remaining. Sounds like that's what you have.

You need to compile it as a vector polygon using shp2vec. For example SBuilderX or ADE can do this.

What I did is like a square that has this height, in my case of 49m, and no little variations.

OK. But you need one compiled as vector.
For example you draw a polygon in SBuilderX and assign the correct height to it. Then set it to "AB_Flatten" and compile it.
