• Which the release of FS2020 we see an explosition of activity on the forun and of course we are very happy to see this. But having all questions about FS2020 in one forum becomes a bit messy. So therefore we would like to ask you all to use the following guidelines when posting your questions:

    • Tag FS2020 specific questions with the MSFS2020 tag.
    • Questions about making 3D assets can be posted in the 3D asset design forum. Either post them in the subforum of the modelling tool you use or in the general forum if they are general.
    • Questions about aircraft design can be posted in the Aircraft design forum
    • Questions about airport design can be posted in the FS2020 airport design forum. Once airport development tools have been updated for FS2020 you can post tool speciifc questions in the subforums of those tools as well of course.
    • Questions about terrain design can be posted in the FS2020 terrain design forum.
    • Questions about SimConnect can be posted in the SimConnect forum.

Any other question that is not specific to an aspect of development or tool can be posted in the General chat forum.

By following these guidelines we make sure that the forums remain easy to read for everybody and also that the right people can find your post to answer it.

MSFS Add fx effects to Blender object

Hi,

With the help of other developers I modeled a rotating prism with two projectors and added it to my lighthouse. The effect is wonderful. Unfortunately, the light effect disappears a few nautical miles away.

I tried with a flashing light but the light goes off the same way.

The FS2020 runway approach lights and aircraft beacons are visible at a much longer distance. I guess these lights are fx effects. I want to use them.

I had made a beacon of this mainière for FSX. In FSDS I then attached an airplane landing light to a rotating beacon and the flash was visible from several nautical miles.

I now want to do this in Blender. How to do? Thank you.

In some commercial scenes you can see two crossed polygons that have been provided with MSFS material. These lights are visible from afar. I guess no commercial developer will share their knowledge about it with us. But, it can be done :)

Why does the effect disappear? Is it because it has become too small? It seems MSFS will not draw parts if they are too small (I noticed this on runway cones that would disappear as they got further away). My solution was to put a triangle about 2 metres below the cone in the model. This makes the model appear larger to MSFS so it wouldn't hide the object so soon and as the triangle is below the ground level the user will never see it.

I am hopeful that we can fix this. Please, if you want to publish the progress, I would be very grateful.

Thank you.
